DEJA QUE MÚSICA Y COMIDA MARQUEN TU CAMINO
Con tantos festivales en Noruega, lo mejor que puedes hacer es seguir tu propio ritmo. El fotógrafo profesional de festivales Tord Litleskare te enseña cómo hacerlo.

Los preparativos pueden resultar tan sencillos como dejar que tu gusto musical decida a dónde vas a ir este verano, como si fueses una brisa indomable que cruza Noruega a su antojo. Asiste a algunos de los festivales musicales menos conocidos y más exóticos en medio de una naturaleza que invita a subir fotos a Instagram; o piérdete entre las multitudes que se agolpan en esperadísimos conciertos en las ciudades más grandes del país.

Y, para llenar el estómago, haz paradas gourmet en los muchos festivales gastronómicos que encontrarás a lo largo del camino y en los que podrás degustar exquisiteces locales.

Nueva música en nuevos destinos

Tord Litleskare es un espíritu libre. Trabaja como fotógrafo y redactor jefe de Gaffa Norway, filial de revista musical más importante de los países nórdicos.

“Afortunadamente, en Gaffa tenemos libertad para cubrir conciertos y artistas que nos interesan personalmente, y esto afecta considerablemente a dónde voy durante la temporada de festivales de verano”.

Para no dar pasos en falso nada más comenzar, Tord sugiere los festivales en las grandes ciudades, ya que cree posiblemente allí encontrará a los artisas más interesantes: el festival Pstereo, en Trondheim; el Utopia, en Stavanger; Øyafestivalen y OverOslo, en la capital; o el Bergenfest, en su Bergen natal.

“Igual que otros aficionados a la música, yo dejo que sean los artistas los que decidan a dónde voy. Pero esto también tiene que ver con el momento vital en el que uno se encuentra. Cuando tenía 17 o 18 años, estaba listo para ir a cualquier sitio. Esa actitud ha cambiado un poco”, explica Tord.

Aun así, dice entender a la masa festivalera que va en busca de aventuras y de experiencias únicas en plena naturaleza.

“Los festivales Vinjerock y Træna son ideales tanto para jóvenes ávidos de nuevas experiencias en el medio de la naturaleza, como para aquellos deseosos de descubrir lugares nuevos. Ese tipo de público se entrega especialmente, ya que al fin y al cabo está invirtiendo tiempo y dinero en venir hasta tan lejos”.

Tord añade que otra de las ventajas de ir a los festivales menos conocidos es la posibilidad de descubrir nuevos talentos que más tarde pueden acabar tocando en sitios mucho más grandes.

Y una tendencia en auge son los festivales especializados en un determinado tipo de música. Cada vez más gente elige los festivales a los que va en función de lo que yo llamaría gustos musicales bastante peculiares. Los nombres que solían reunir a grandes multitudes son cada vez más raros, ya que no quedan muchos Paul McCartneys y los gustos se diversifican constantemente”, asegura Tord.

Abre la mente... y la boca

El creciente número de festivales gastronómicos en Noruega sigue la misma receta, diversificando su oferta todo el tiempo y especializándose en el renovado interés por las virtudes de la comida local, en toda Noruega y durante todo el año.

Cada agosto, en la localidad de Haugesund, puedes encontrar la mesa de arenques más larga del mundo. En Hjelmeland se celebra, en septiembre, el Festival noruego de la fruta y el salmón; mientras que Valdres es famosa por su adorado y peculiar Festival noruego del rakfisk, donde cada noviembre se sirve trucha parcialmente fermentada.  El Festival de la cerveza artesanal Sur & Bitter, que se celebra en Sandnes en septiembre, es una cita obligada para los amantes de la cerveza, y el Festival del bacalao toma la ciudad de Kristiansand a finales de junio. La lista de festivales gastronómicos se hace más larga año tras año.

Comidistas y amantes de la música tienen mucho en común cuando se trata de seguir sus gustos. Aquellos que se desplazan allá donde su chef o músico favorito está de gira pueden acabar haciendo muchos kilómetros: “Cuando artistas de la talla de Sting o Elton John vienen a Noruega, normalmente viajan por todo el país dando conciertos”, afirma Tord.

Entonces, ¿qué festivales recomienda Tord Litleskare a gente que no conoce Noruega?

“Empieza con un par de días en Oslo, la capital, para descubrir los últimos eventos, incluidos algunos festivales. Luego súbete al tren en un precioso viaje por las montañas de la Noruega de los fiordos y Bergen, para presenciar uno de mis festivales de música favoritos, el Bergenfest”.

En 2014, el Bergenfest atrajo mucha atención y recibió un gran impulso al anunciar la presencia de Lana del Rey meses antes de la publicación de su nuevo disco, que vio finalmente la luz dos días antes de la actuación de la artista en Bergen.

“Eso les dio mucha fama”, indica Tord.

Este año, el redactor jefe de Gaffa y su equipo planean cubrir al menos 22 festivales.

“Y cuando no estoy trabajando, he de admitir que también paso el tiempo yendo a festivales, a veces simplemente porque el lugar pinta bien”.
