VEGA

Ravnfloget Via Ferrata

Ravnfloget Via Ferrata has in a short time become a very popular activity on Vega. Airy and exciting trip up the mountain Ravnfloget, with fantastic views along the way and at the top.

On the west side of Vega is Sundsvoll. Here you will find Vegatrappa and Ravnfloget Via Ferrata, both of which take you to the top of Ravnfloget. Climbing in Via Ferrata is booked in advance. Information about this can be found here. There are two climbing trails up to Ravnfloget: the red and the green. Both trails are exciting and exposed, while not being too physically demanding. Please note that in order to take the red trail, which is the most demanding, you must have taken the green one first.

Green trail is 510 m long and has 225 meters of altitude. It starts steeply, but is very varied and fun to walk, with an incredible view. Along the way, a picnic area has been built where you can sit down. From here it is a somewhat slower climb which eventually turns into somewhat tougher challenges again. At the very top, a 'Nepal bridge' has been built. For those who do not want to cross this, you can disconnect from the trail and walk the last few meters up to the top of Ravnfloget.

The red trail has a length of 550 m, and it has the same number of altitude meters as the green one, 225 m. The red one goes almost vertically up the wall for the first 150 meters, but then a little slacker until it goes along the green trail. The return goes down the Vega stairs.

The meeting point for the climb is a newly built service building located by the path after approx. 15 minutes walk.

Season from April to mid-October.

From the top of Ravnfloget there is a fantastic view. From here you have a view of the island Søla and Vegaøyan World Heritage Site. On clear days you can see the characteristic outline of Træna. There are facilities at the top where you can enjoy brought food and drink and meet others who have made it to the top by going up the Vega stairs.

The Vega stairs start a little up the mountainside, where the first part consists of a paved path. Around 1450 steps take you to the top of Ravnfloget, 350 meters above sea level. The trip up to Ravnfloget is steep, but manageable for most people. Along the way, you can make use of beautiful picnic areas with fire pits.
