Hoveheia, Lindesnes

9095

Short but steep walk up to the viewpoint of Hoveheia south-west of Vigeland.

At the start down, by the town hall you pass the home of the grandparents to Gustav Vigeland on the left. Gustav Vigeland himself lived here on the farm for a period in the 1880s. The mill house you pass a little further up belongs to this yard - hence the farm name "Mjunebrokka" comes. You cross the bridge that crosses the E-39 before leaving the highway up to the right. Along the steep path you can see remains after the residence Solhelleren (lay a distance to the right of the trail). Then a lighter part of the path where you pass Igletjønn before it gets steeper up the last piece to 215 m.o.h. with great views. In front of the viewpoint there are scouts from Vigeland built a lavo. On days with good visibility you can see Ryvingen Lighthouse in Mandal to the east, 17 km away (the lighthouse is red, the memory north of the white is), southwards you see the Snigsfjord with the Hummerholmen at the extreme. A little further west you see Springøy. The wind turbines at Fjeldskår a little north of Lindesnes lighthouse, rising 14 km away and far west watch TV transmitter at Kaldåsknipen in Lyngdal (24 km away).
