At the southernmost tip of Eigerøy lies Auglend and Vandringshavn – a beautiful outdoor recreation area where the trail leads you out to the majestic Brønnesodden in the North Sea.

An award-winning outdoor recreation area

In 1995, Auglend was named Outdoor Recreation Area of the Year in Norway – and it is easy to understand why. The old Auglend farm with its harbour is a beautiful cultural-historical landscape where agriculture and fishing once went hand in hand.

Vandringshavn – idyll by the sea

Vandringshavn is a small natural harbour with boathouses, jetties and sheltered coves. Here you can enjoy a picnic, try your luck at fishing or let the children catch crabs from the jetty.

A walk through the lunar landscape

The trail towards Brønnesodden passes through the distinctive lunar landscape of Magma Geopark, dominated by the rock type anorthosite – the same rock found on the surface of the moon.

On the way, you will pass Løvebukten, named after the frigate Den Norske Løve, which sank here in 1666.

Out to sea

Brønnesodden stretches like a narrow tongue straight out into the North Sea. Out here, you will encounter the sea and light at their most dramatic. Mountains and rocky shores form a fantastic playground for both children and adults – perfect for climbing, jumping or a refreshing dip when the weather permits.

Experiences for everyone

The area offers everything from walks along the coast to canoeing, fishing, swimming and barbecuing. Auglend is simply a place where nature, history and outdoor life meet, out here by the sea.
