Bike tour around the Hardanger Fjord

The Hardanger Fjord cycling tour takes you through some of the most beautiful scenery in Norway, with spectacular views of the Hardangerfjord, mountains, waterfalls and Folgefonna Glacier. Cycling allows you to experience this impressive landscape at a relaxed pace, with plenty of opportunities to stop and enjoy the views along the way.

The cycling tour starts with a scenic train journey from Bergen to Voss, before you set off by bike towards the Hardangerfjord.

Hardanger is one of Norway’s most important fruit-growing regions, and the route takes you through beautiful orchards and traditional farming landscapes. In early summer, the fruit trees are in full bloom, while late summer and autumn bring ripe apples, pears, plums and berries. Along the way, you can often buy local produce directly from small farm stands by the road. Simply take what you want and leave your payment in the box.

The route combines quiet, picturesque roads with some sections on roads with more traffic. Ferry crossings across the fjord are an integral part of the journey and provide a welcome break from cycling while giving you a different perspective of the spectacular fjord landscape.

One of the highlights is cycling across the impressive Hardangerfjord Bridge, one of Norway’s longest suspension bridges. The bridge offers magnificent views of the fjord and surrounding mountains.

The last night is in the charming village of Rosendal, where we recommend visiting the historic Barony Rosendal and its beautiful gardens.

From Sunde, south of Rosendal, you return to Bergen by boat through the scenic coastal landscape of Sunnhordland.

A cycling holiday in Hardanger combining fjords, mountains, fruit orchards and coastal scenery, all experienced at your own pace from the bike saddle.
