Arendal District Prison has become a hotel! In the prison building from 1862 in red brick and neo-romantic building style, the cells can be restored and transformed into hotel rooms.

About the rooms
The rooms are newly renovated in 2022, and are 9m² large with both toilet, sink, electricity and wifi. As well as a small desk. The theme we have chosen is a type of black and white pattern in the cell rooms. The prison has 24 newly renovated prison cells on the first and second floors.
It offers 21 single/small double cell rooms and 3 double to triple rooms.
Walking distance to the center
It is 900m down to Arendal center, ie it takes about 10 minutes to walk.
Guided tour
It offers a guided tour through the prison's 160-year history with a previously rehabilitated inmate who also tells about "the life of an inmate" here, spectacular escapes from the place and shows both open and closed areas in the prison.
