Fishing & Fjord Cruise

This tour is operated by Hermes II.

Join a 4.5-hour fishing and fjord cruise from Tromsø aboard Hermes II, a historic wooden vessel built in 1917. Enjoy the beautiful Arctic coastal scenery, try your luck at fishing and discover the region's maritime history.

The skipper takes you to suitable fishing spots, depending on the weather and sea conditions. Fishing rods and equipment are provided, and no previous fishing experience is necessary. To avoid tangled lines, a maximum of five to six fishing rods are used at a time, with guests taking turns so everyone has the opportunity to fish.

Along the way, enjoy views of the mountains and fjords surrounding Tromsø. Keep an eye out for wildlife, as sea eagles, seals and sometimes reindeer can be spotted along the coast. Wildlife sightings are less frequent between November and January and cannot be guaranteed.

During the cruise, your Norwegian- and English-speaking hosts share stories about Hermes II and the region's coastal heritage. You can enjoy the scenery and fresh sea air from the spacious deck or relax in the cosy, heated lounge below deck.

A warm, traditional Norwegian fish cake is served during the trip. If you're lucky enough to catch fish, the crew will prepare the fresh catch on board and serve it with butter and flatbread. Coffee, tea and other hot drinks are also included.

Food and drinks: A traditional fish cake and hot drinks are included. If fish are caught, the crew will prepare and serve the fresh catch with butter and flatbread. Snacks and additional drinks are available for purchase on board.

Please bring: Warm clothing, a hat, scarf, mittens and warm footwear. You are also welcome to bring your own fishing rod.

Number of participants: Minimum 1, maximum 18 guests on scheduled departures. Private trips can accommodate up to 35 guests.

Meeting time and place: No later than 15 minutes before departure, beside Hermes II at pier 12 on the seaward side of Kystens Hus, Stortorget 1, 9008 Tromsø.

Duration: Approximately 4.5 hours

Important information: A maximum of five to six fishing rods are used at a time, and guests take turns fishing. Fish catches and wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed. The cruise may be changed, rescheduled or cancelled due to challenging weather conditions.

Outside food and drinks are not permitted on board. Exceptions may be made for young children and guests with allergies.
