Experience the tranquillity of the Geirangerfjord entrance by kayak – a family‑friendly trip from Hellesylt close to nature, fjord and wildlife.
This kayak trip from Hellesylt is a beautiful and quiet way to get close to the fjord – safe, scenic and suitable for everyone. Perfect for families, friends or anyone who wants a peaceful nature experience on the water.
From the kayak centre in Hellesylt, Uteguiden takes you on a short and atmospheric paddle along the fjord. After a simple safety briefing and equipment check, you glide silently towards Dinne Stranda and continue in the direction of the Geirangerfjord. Nature is close at hand, with good chances of spotting sea eagles, porpoises and otters. The trip suits all levels, and tandem kayaks make the experience safe and accessible for children.
Hellesylt sits beautifully at the mouth of the fjord, surrounded by steep mountains and lush landscapes. Although the village is less famous than its neighbour Geiranger, the scenery here is just as striking. Local guides share stories about the mountain farms and the natural forces that have shaped the fjord – including the tale of Åkerneset, known from the film The Wave.
