




Strandbaren sits right on the beach at Stokkøya – an informal, vibrant place where the sea sets the rhythm for everything we do. Here, the season’s best shellfish and local ingredients take centre stage, prepared over an open fire. Throughout human history, nothing has brought us together more for safety, warmth, and shared meals than the fire – the original kitchen.
At Stokkøya, we’ve carried this tradition forward: by the beach, around the fire and the grill, the flame has always been our gathering point. Almost all our food is cooked on the grill or in a wood-fired oven. The menu features a range of small dishes made from local ingredients – mainly fish and shellfish, complemented by vegetables from our own garden and meat from nearby farms. It changes regularly with the seasons, based on what’s fresh and available. The atmosphere is relaxed and social, centred around the food, the fire, and the view of the sea. With locally sourced ingredients, simple preparation, and deep respect for the seasons, Strandbaren is a place for honest flavours, shared moments, and long evenings by the water
