Get a real adrenaline rush high up among the treetops or discover the archipelago from a new perspective at TrollAktiv Hove just outside Arendal!
TrollAktiv Hove is best known for its fantastic climbing park, where you can experience thrills and an adrenaline rush high up in the trees — but there is so much more to do here.
Located at Hove Leirsenter, TrollAktiv Hove is a multi-activity centre featuring a climbing park with six exciting courses for the whole family, including ziplines and many fun obstacles. You’ll also find activities like laser tag, an escape room, and rental options for bikes and rowboats. In addition, you can head out into the archipelago to explore by sea kayak, stand-up paddleboard (SUP), or through coasteering.
TrollAktiv Hove is just 15 minutes from Arendal city centre, located on Tromøy island, and is the perfect destination for a day trip to the coast. Raet National Park is right next door, and if a day isn’t enough to experience it all — and to enjoy the beautiful surroundings — you can stay overnight at Raet Camping, located right next to the activity centre. It’s a great place for families, school groups, youth groups, companies, birthday parties, and other special occasions.
TrollAktiv Hove is open from April to October, but can also open outside these dates by arrangement.
Climbing Park
The climbing park has six different routes of varying difficulty levels, each with unique obstacles, challenges, and ziplines between the trees. TrollAktiv Hove’s climbing park uses a modern continuous safety system. This means that once you’ve “clipped in,” you’re secured throughout the entire course — no need to clip on and off along the way.
Coasteering
Coasteering combines cliff jumping, climbing, and swimming along the shoreline. Together with experienced instructors, you’ll go on a tour that’s sure to provide both fun and a sense of achievement. During the activity, you’ll learn various skills such as defensive swimming techniques, swimming in groups, traversing rocks, and jumping into the water from different heights.
Sea Kayaking
Join a beautiful guided tour to Gjessøya in a double sea kayak. You’ll receive an introduction to basic paddling techniques and learn a bit about the history of the areas you pass. The tour is suitable for beginners, but keep in mind that sea kayaking can be physically demanding, as the trip involves paddling on the open sea for 3–4 hours.
Laser Tag and Escape Room
If heights and water aren’t quite your thing, but you still want to challenge your friends or family with an exciting activity, laser tag or an escape room could be the perfect choice. Compete to be the best in laser tag or work together to find your way out of the escape room.
Rowboats, SUP, Sit-on-top Kayaks, and Bike Rentals
For those who want to explore on their own, there are plenty of options to rent. You can enjoy a lovely trip in the archipelago by rowing an English gig rowboat together, paddling along in a sit-on-top kayak, or trying the hugely popular stand-up paddleboarding (SUP). Or why not go for a scenic bike ride through the beautiful landscape?
