Bolkesjø Gaard is a family-run farm surrounded by forests and lakes, with beautiful hiking trails and good opportunities for fishing and swimming.

Bolkesjø Gård is a family-run farm with a rich cultural heritage at the foot of Blefjell in Telemark. The farm is surrounded by forests and lakes, with beautiful hiking trails and great opportunities for swimming, fishing, and everything the forest has to offer.

Various types of accommodation - all close to nature
Bolkesjø Gård offers various types of accommodation, all close to nature and unique in their own way. In the Stabburet, you have the opportunity to wake up in a four-poster bed with a fantastic view of the Telemark mountains. At the Seteren, or Stulen as it is called locally, you are alone in the middle of the forest, far from people. The Jonrud husmannsplass is idyllically located by the beautiful lake Follsjø - the perfect water for swimming and fishing. In the summer, you can also stay in an exclusive glamping tent on the shore of lake Follsjø.

Great place for children, families, and couples
How about taking the children on a blueberry picking trip in the forest? Or a romantic weekend for two, alone in the woods? Grilled fish for dinner tastes even better when you've caught it yourself! A stone's throw from the Jonrud husmannsplass is the new beach at lake Follsjø, a great option for the youngest children. All places are equipped with outdoor furniture and barbecue facilities. Here, you have the opportunity to take a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and appreciate simple pleasures close to nature.

Long traditions and rich cultural heritage
There are long traditions of tourism at Bolkesjø, as it has been a coaching station since 1624. During the national romanticism period, Bolkesjø was referred to as the "Gateway to the Land of Adventure" - when people wanted to explore the wild nature and culture of Telemark. The local area around the farm still resembles old times, with old log buildings and beautiful stabbur (storehouses).

Norway's oldest wooden residential building
The Årestua on the farm is Norway's oldest wooden residential building, dating back to the 1220s. The Årestua is currently being restored and will be able to accommodate guests from 2024.

Bjønnestille nature reserve and well-maintained flower meadows
The area around lake Follsjø has a particularly interesting biological diversity. Bolkesjø Gård has its own nature reserve, Bjønnestille, which can be explored. We also maintain several flower meadows around the farm and greatly appreciate the old hayfields
