Nestled amongst towering mountains, right at the head of the beautiful Lysefjord, you’ll find the DNT Lysefjorden tourist cabin!
The Lysefjorden tourist cabin is the perfect starting point for exploring Kjerag, amongst other attractions.
The Lysefjorden tourist cabin is situated in the small village of Lysebotn, right at the end of the Lysefjord. This is a DNT cabin with real character – it’s easily recognisable thanks to its colourful façades adorned with street art.
The tourist cabin is accessible by car and bus, and you can drive right up to the cabin. Alternatively, you can hop on the ferry – the boat trip through the fjord is an experience in itself. On the way, you’ll have views of both Preikestolen and Kjerag. From the quay in Lysebotn, it’s just a short 50-metre stroll to the cabin.
Trips and activities
This is a family-friendly cabin with plenty of activities for children. Among other things, you’ll find play equipment and a trampoline in the garden. There’s also a sauna, swimming facilities and SUP/kayak hire down by the fjord. Lysedalen, situated just behind the tourist cabin, also offers many idyllic walks in the surrounding area that are ideal for families with children.
Lysefjorden tourist cabin is also a fantastic starting point for mountain hikes to the iconic Kjerag and Kjeragbolten.
The cabin is situated halfway along the spectacular route around Lysefjorden, and from Lysebotn there are marked trails to the tourist cabins Langavatn and Songedalen Fjellgard.
Food and accommodation
Lysefjorden is a staffed cabin and has both a restaurant and a café. Here you can enjoy a delicious breakfast buffet, and every day you can choose from a set menu for lunch and dinner. You can also buy ice cream, baked goods, snacks, hiking provisions and souvenirs from the kiosk.
The DNT Lysefjorden tourist cabin offers lovely bedrooms in all price ranges and sizes.
