A memorable visit to this shop
The village of Skrolsvik has been a fishing community and whatever nessecities you needed, you could find it in the merchan`s shop. This house was built in the 1870`s and you could purchase groceries, clothes, fishing equipment and whatever was needed on daily basis.
The merchant had a function as an office for both the fishery and for the ships.
In the first floor, fishermen could get a place to sleep.
Even today the exteriour and interiour is similar to the original from 1925.
Gammelbutikken today is a combination of museum, arts&crafts from local artists and souvernir shop. They also serve as a small cafè with waffles, pastry, icecream, oldstyle candy and coffee.
