The newer Carl Johan wing, approximately 50 metres from the main building, contains 39 rooms with modern furnishings, private bathrooms, desks, TVs and complimentary Wi-Fi. The historic main building houses six guest rooms, including two King Suites. These suites combine traditional interiors with a double bed and a separate sitting room. The hotel restaurant is located in the main building, where the dining room has been restored to reflect its appearance in 1883. Sjømilitære Samfund was founded in Stavern in 1835. When the Norwegian Navy's main base moved to Horten, the society followed. The present main building was completed in 1883 and became a gathering place for naval officers, dinners and social events. Today, guests can stay in the heart of this maritime heritage district. The Naval Museum and Preus Museum are nearby, along with green spaces, coastal walking paths and the waterfront. Horten town centre, with its shops, cafés and other attractions, is also within walking distance.
