Midtåsen

The beautiful former home of shipping magnate and philanthropist Anders Jahre is now owned by the municipality of Sandefjord. The house, which sits in 15 acres of grounds (Midtåsen), was built in the 1930s and designed by renowned Norwegian architect Arnstein Arneberg.

The beautiful former home of shipping magnate and philanthropist Anders Jahre is now owned by the municipality of Sandefjord. The house, which sits in 15 acres of grounds (Midtåsen), was built in the 1930s and designed by renowned Norwegian architect Arnstein Arneberg.

It was the home of Anders and Bess Jahre until his death in 1982, and Bess continued to live there until her death in the summer of 2006. The estate, which has a unique park containing a number of sculptures and with fantastic views over the Sandefjord fjord, is now open to the general public for the first time.

Opening hours in the Park:
every day 08.00-22.00 (free entrance)

Sculpture park:
June 24th 2010 opened a sculpture park of Knut Steen in the park facility by the side of the house hover. This is open Monday - Sunday 10.00-19.00 (free entrance)

Guided tours of the villa:
