MILK Bar & Lounge

MILK Bar & Lounge is situated on an old ferry quay outside the harbour of Ålesund centre, Skansekaia. You are literally sitting right in the middle of the canal! Enjoy the view while being served refreshing drinks from an extensive bar menu. The historical name "MILK" comes from the time when Skateflua was a rallying point for the delivery of milk and products from the fjord farms and the islands around Ålesund. This was the place to catch up with news and gossip about what was going on – with conversations and trade hand in hand. Today, trade is no longer taking place at the quay, but it is certainly back as a place to gather – in the form of a bar & lounge with international standard, dedicated barkeepers and a relaxed atmosphere.

Historical and contemporary, on land but at sea. MILK bar and lounge is built on the quay and slightly out to sea on Skateflukaia. This modern and stylish bar, with its beautiful location is for sure worth to visit. A long with knowledgeable and friendly staff who serves you drinks from our complementary menu, MILK bar and lounge is the perfect place to lean back and just enjoy.

Our company, XL gruppen, love history, and strives to redistribute the best  from past generations. The name "MILK" derives from when Skateflukaia was a focal point for delivery of milk and other products from the fjords and places around Ålesund. You got to hear the gossip and news about what was happening on Sunnmøre, chat and trade went hand in hand.

Today, trade is no longer happening on the dock, but the focal point is back. And at MILK bar and lounge, you should always feel welcome. When the weather allows it, you are also welcome to enjoy our outdoor area by the sea. Or we open up the roof in the venue, and let the sun shine inside the doors.
