Nesparken at Vansjø is the city's largest green lung, offers several bathing areas and is only a 5-minute walk from the city center, just off the main road to the city.
The beach in Nesparken has Blue flag certification, and was up until this year the only freshwater beach with Blue flag certification in Norway.
The beach has nice sand, kiosk and wheelchair ramp. In the park there are courses for putball, sandball and sand volleyball. With a shoreline of over 200 kilometers and 36 km² of surface area, Vansjø is one of the country's largest lakes. Vansjølandskapet is full of fjords, islands and islets and is a very popular recreation site. The park was opened on May 16, 1954 after being made on volunteer basis of members of the city's association.
