Nordsjørittet

Nordsjørittet is a 91 km bike race which runs from Egersund in the south to Sandnes in the north. The trail goes through forest and mountain, along the North Sea Road, Vestlandske hovedvei and Kongeveien - in other words, great scenery. You decide the pace, aspirations and how often you take breaks.

The track is rated as easy, with a mix of paved roads (60%), gravel roads (20%), and the rest is a mix of walking paths or single-track. A mountain bike or a hybrid bike is recommended. A road racing bike is unusable!

How to get there By train from Sandnes or Stavanger, or other stations towards Egersund. (see information at www.nsb.no) There is a package for Transport of the bike and yourself, which is provided by the race organizers. Bikes will be transported separately with a trailer from Spinn Cycleshop in Sandnes between 1600 – 2000, Friday the day before the race. Cost of transport package for bike and rider is 250 NOK.

Nordsjørittet donates money from 600 tickets (two teams) to the TV campaign and Amnesty International 21 October

Jon Almaas is 3 time team leader for one of two charitie teams in Nordsjørittet. Erik Thorstvedt trying again to become the leader of the other team. Erik had acute neck prolapse and required surgery two days before he was to start in this year's Nordsjøritt.

Also this year will Nordsjørittet give a helping hand to the telethon. We repeat the success and donates 600 tickets to be sold during the live TV broadcast 21 October to raise money for Amnesty International. Now, 600 participants have the opportunity to secure a place in Nordsjørittet 2013, and simultaneously help to support a good cause. A ticket costs NOK 800, - and the entire amount will go to the telethon, says Eli Orre, head of Nordsjørittet.
