This hike takes you through an old thoroughfare from Oldedalen valley in Nordfjord to Stardalen valley in Sunnfjord. Area: Oldedalen valley Type: Hike/walk Classification: Demanding Length: 9.7 km, 4 hours Season: May–October
The hike starts at Melkevoll Bretun with a steep ascent towards Volefossen waterfall and Svedjane. Chains have been put in place to make it safe. Continue through birch forest, with views towards Melkevollsbreen glacier. The path winds its way upwards towards a ridge. Continue along the glacial stream to a higher glacial lake. The terrain flattens out in the valley between the Oldedalen and Stardalen valleys. The path leads west through Oldeskaret ravine and passes two lakes.
