You go by ferry from Stavanger to Tau, then corresponding bus from Tau ferry quay to Preikestolen Mountain Lodge, the starting point of the hike. Travelling time is approximately one hour. The hike itself is close to four kilometres along a well marked trail. Height difference is 350 metres. Estimated hiking time is four hours return trip. Total duration with transport is approximately eight hours. The round trip ticket can be purchased in the tourist information in Stavanger or booked online.
