Putten Seter

Stay at Putten Seter in Høvringen, Rondane in the homely comfort of one of our high-standard rooms, apartments or cabins.

The buildings are arranged around a traditional setertun, or farmyard, giving Putten Seter its unique character. Stay either self-catering, full-board, or order traditional rustic Norwegian meals when it suits you, at our mountain cafe.

Putten Seter nestles low on the south side of Formokampen mountain, at the entrance to Rondane, Norway’s first national park. The farm is located in the middle of a network of ski trails and footpaths and has a wonderful view towards Jotunheimen. Rondane National Park has excellent walking terrain and promises a great natural experience for children and adults, in both summer and winter.

Accommodation

Putten Seter offers a variety of accommodation, for individuals, couples, families or small and large groups. Stay either self-catering, full-board, or order meals when it suits you at our mountain cafe, which serves traditional Norwegian food.

Dovre Stugu Apartment I
This apartment can accommodate up to 14 guests and has a large living room, kitchenette with dining area, dishwasher, four bedrooms (one with two beds, and three with four beds), sauna, two showers / WCs, laundry and drying room and a private veranda. Mountain walkers are welcome to rent rooms.

Dovre Stugu Apartment II
This apartment can accommodate up to 24 guests. Large dining room, well-appointed kitchen with a large dishwasher, cosy lounge with fireplace, 2 showers / WCs, eight bedrooms – each accommodating three guests – with their own sink with hot and cold water, Large terrace with a picturesque bridge over a small stream.

The Old Stugu Apartment
A wonderful large apartment with a traditional Norwegian-cabin style. Living room with sofa and dining area, fireplace and traditional timber walls. well-appointed kitchen with dishwasher. This apartment can accommodate up to 11 guests. Four bedrooms with sinks, 3 with family-sized bunk beds and one with regular bunk bed. New extension with shower / WC / sauna. Enter from the farmyard.

Jotunsjå
Suitable for lone travellers / families (renting individual rooms) or for groups of up to 22 guests.
2 bedrooms each with 2 bunk beds, mezzanine, shower / WC and small kitchenette.
2 bedrooms each with 2 bunk beds, mezzanine, shower / WC.
1 bedroom with 1 double bed and shower / WC.
In addition, there’s an open kitchen / living room with a long refectory table, sauna and large veranda.

Midtstugu apartment I
Accommodates 2-4 guests. Homely one-bedroom cabin apartment with timber / panel walls has a twin sofa bed in the living room, kitchenette. soapstone oven, shower / WC. Enter from the farmyard.

Midtstugu apartment II
Accommodates up to 6 guests. Apartment with large living room that sleeps two, and one bedroom with two bunk beds.
Shower / WC. Cosy living room with kitchenette, dining area and soapstone oven. Timber / panel walls.
Enter from the farmyard. Communal entrance hall shared with Midtstugu I.

Selstugu
Accommodates up to 8 guests. Cosy and traditional cabin in the middle of the farmyard, with living room and three bedrooms.
Living room with fireplace, modernised kitchen with dishwasher, shower / WC.
One bedroom with two single beds / double bed, one bedroom with a bunk bed, and one bedroom with two bunk beds.

Mountain Cafe

The cafe is open in winter and summer from 11:00 -16:00. During the winter season, from February until Easter, the café is very popular with skiers from Høvringen.

Many come to enjoy some warm cocoa with freshly-whipped cream and our crispy, freshly-made sour-cream waffles with jam and sour cream.

The cafe serves sour-cream porridge and crispy fresh waffles throughout the year, as well as coffee, tea, soft drinks, wine and beer. Main meals can also be ordered.

Food service

We offer rooms with full-board, breakfast, packed lunch and dinner. You can also stay in a cabin or apartment and dine in our cafe. For celebrations, weddings and anniversaries we provide party tables and party menus. For parties and large group bookings, please contact us for details of our great offers.

Banqueting

Putten Seter offers an excellent banqueting service for up to 90 guests, served from its large commercial kitchen in the main building. Many come to Putten Seter with family and friends, or for anniversaries, weddings, christenings, confirmations, or just to spend a good weekend together!

Most have dinner together, and make other meals in their cabins, but we’re also happy to cater for your entire stay with us. The main building, or one of the large cabins, is ideal for small conferences or school reunions.

We are fully licensed to serve alcohol.

We have extensive experience hosting different functions and are happy to offer advice for your event. Our chefs can create a menu to suit your wishes. For those preferring to organise their own events, the Dovre Stugu apartments can be rented, with a well-appointed kitchen, dining space for 30 guests on long refractory tables and overnight accommodation for 38 guests.

Putten Seter is midway between Oslo, Trondheim, Ålesund and just a short distance from the west of Norway. Our regular guests include businesses, organisations and families wanting a central place to meet with excellent accommodation and cuisine.

For christenings and weddings we recommend Rossbu Chapel, with seating for 50 people, located just a few minutes’ walk from Putten Seter. Fiddlers and horse and carriage / sleigh transport can be arranged on request.
