A view such as this is rare! Rennesøyhodnet is in the middle of the Ryfylke islands, and gives a tremendous view in all directions. From the 234 metre-high top you will gaze over well-kept farms, and to the north, the swaying heathlands. The municipality of Rennesøy has a marked web of hiking tracks in this area, giving opportunities for both round tours and hikes across the island. The starting points for the hikes are either Vikevåg, Sel or Hegglandslia in Østhusvik.
The mountain Rennesøyhodnet is located in the middle of Ryfylkebassenget and gives you a tremendous view in all directions from Karmøy and Haugalandet in north and far south of Jæren. There is 20 km marked trails at the highest point of Rennesøy.
You can either start hiking from Sel, near Dale at Rennesøy or from Østhusvik at a place called Hegglandslia. From the parking and to the top the hiking time is approximately one hour each way. The hike is easy, only the last part to the top is a little steep. The hike is suitable for the whole family. At the top you will get almost 360 degrees view.
By public transportation, bus No. 10 from Stavanger to Østhusvik.
