Stiklestad National Cultural Centre

The Stiklestad National Cultural Centre in Verdal tells the captivating tale of the Battle of Stiklestad in 1030 and its connection to Norwegian history, particularly Stiklestad and St. Olav.

Stiklestad encompasses a vast area with a multitude of houses, each with its own unique history. Here, you'll find year-round medieval storytelling, permanent and rotating exhibitions covering fascinating themes, a comprehensive folk museum boasting 30 historical buildings from the 1600s to the 1800s, the 1180 Stiklestad Church, an amphitheater, and a Catholic chapel.

SUMMER HIGHLIGHTS:
During the summer season, you can immerse yourself in the St. Olav's Festival and "Viking Summer." The St. Olav's Festival, held in the latter part of July, features the St. Olav Drama performed on Scandinavia's largest and oldest open-air theater stage (canceled in 2021). You can also enjoy concerts, exhibitions, performances, workshops, a medieval market, and discussions.

"Stiklestad Summer" offers a daily activity program suitable for both children and adults. Explore the medieval farm of "Stiklestadir" and the Folk Museum, where three courtyards are brought to life, representing the years 1898, 1942, and 1959. Everyday stories come alive with a mix of humor and seriousness. Additionally, don't miss the tableau theater performance "Arvesølvet" (the silver heirloom). You can visit the Molåna café from 1900 and the play barn or join one of our knowledgeable guides on a tour.

Stiklestad National Cultural Centre also houses a museum shop, restaurant/cafe, and the Scandic Stiklestad Hotel.
