Hotel Ole Tobias is a small and cosy hotel, conveniently situated near many restaurants and shops, the science centre Vitensenter Nordland, the Fjord Promenade, and the wooden houses of Moholmen, the town’s oldest neighbourhood.
The hotel is also the perfect base for excursions throughout the surrounding area – whether you are walking, kayaking or skiing. Popular hiking destinations such as Rabothytta cabin in the Okstindan mountains, the amazing natural marble formations of Marmorslottet, caves and glaciers are only a short drive away.
The hotel
The hotel is named after Ole Tobias Olsen, who is credited as “the father” of the Nordland Line of the Norwegian railways. Fittingly, the hotel is decorated with old photos and historical objects that highlight railway history. Certainly these give the hotel a distinctive character. But there’s more: as a guest, you stay in a spacious hotel room named after one of the old train stations, and your breakfast is served in “Spisevogna”, a room furnished as an old dining car.
