In beautiful Gamle Lærdalsøyri you will find Lærdal tele- and postmuseum. The small, well-run museum has a summer opening and free entrance.
The history of the telegraph and telecommunications in Lærdal dates back to 1856. The Lærdal branch of the Norwegian Telecommunications Museum offers a fascinating glimpse into the development of communication technology over the years.
In the same building, Maihaugen Open-Air Museum in Lillehammer is responsible for an engaging exhibition on postal history. Through photographs and illustrations, texts, artefacts, models and soundscapes, visitors are taken on a journey through local, regional and national postal history under the theme "From Fjord to Mountain."
On the second floor, a large summer book sale featuring books from the local library will also be open to visitors.
