Tvinnefossen waterfall
This waterfall is easy to get to and you can walk behind it.
Its name comes from the fact that a long stretch of the river swirls and twists like wool being spun to make yarn (tvinne = twine). It is said to be the only waterfall in Northern Europe that people and animals can pass behind. A road led from below the waterfall down to the fjord. In this area, the farmers had fruit trees, picked nuts, found materials for making rope (linden trees) and hoops for barrels (hazel wood), and there was good grazing for sheep and horses.
The road to Tvinnefossen is easily accessible.
