Ove Gjesdall dejó los renombrados fiordos en los que pasó su infancia para trasladarse al interior, a las misteriosas tierras del este de Noruega. Gjesdal, nacido en Bergen y que hoy es director de Turismo en Lillehammer y el valle de Gudbrandsdalen, explica: “Enseguida me entusiasmaron las actividades tan poco conocidas que encontré aquí. Hay planes interesantes todo el año. Me he aficionado al ciclismo y al esquí, entre otros deportes, y me he enganchado también a los festivales culturales y a otros eventos por los que la región es conocida”.

Toma el volante y descúbrelo por ti mismo: muchos de los valles del este de Noruega parecen deliciosamente infinitos cuando conduces por ellos y vas haciendo paradas, ya sean espontáneas o planificadas, para disfrutar de los reclamos y las vistas que encuentras. Este paisaje siempre cambiante alterna, sin ningún preaviso, suaves colinas y accidentadas formas.

    Día 2: Lillehammer–Hafjell–Hunderfossen

    Sal de Lillehammer en dirección norte hacia Hafjell, uno de los mayores destinos de esquí de toda Noruega. En verano, la zona está considerada como uno de los parques ciclistas mejor acondicionados del país.

    Al otro lado del valle, la gran atracción es el bobsleigh sobre ruedas. Allí encontrarás también el Parque Familiar de Hunderfossen, un parque temático sacado de un cuento de hadas en el que encontrarás opciones de alojamiento para toda la familia.

    Día 3: Hunderfossen–Ringebu–Muen

    Sigue tu camino hacia el norte a través del valle de Gudbrandsdalen. Antes de dejar la carretera E6 y dirigirte hacia Venabygdsfjellet te aconsejamos hacer una parada para ver la iglesia medieval de madera en Ringebu. Explora la montaña a pie o a caballo.

    La montaña de Muen es un buen lugar para una vista panorámica del Parque Nacional de Rondane. Puedes pasar la noche en alguno de los hoteles o cámpings en Ringebu y alrededores.

    Día 4: Ringebu–Gålå–Elgtårnet

    En coche de Ringebu a Gålå: 30 minutos

    En coche de Gålå a Elgtårnet: 50 minutos

    Desde Gålå, cruza el valle en forma de U de Gudbrandsdalen. Gålå es famosa por su representación al aire libre de la obra Peer Gynt, además de ser un buen punto de partida para conducir a través de la montañosa carretera de Peer Gynt, pasando por Fefor y hasta llegar al valle de Espedalen.

    La cabaña en forma de torre de Elgtårnet es un buen lugar para admirar alces desde un punto elevado. Más al sur, las famosas grutas naturales de Helvete están entre las más grandes de Europa.

    Día 5: Elgtårnet/Espedalen–Fagernes

    Duración estimada del viaje en coche: 2 horas y 40 minutos
    Distancia: 165 kilómetros

    Resulta natural pensar en visitar Valdres como próxima parada. La cresta de Besseggen ha sido incluida entre las mejores rutas de senderismo del mundo por National Geographic; mientras que el de Bukkelægret es otro recorrido a 2.000 metros de altura. La aldea de montaña de Beitostølen se encuentra a los pies de la cordillera de Jotunheimen.

    El predecible clima de Valdres y alrededores garantiza que habrá nieve en invierno, lo que lo convierte en un buen sitio para ir a esquiar. Aquí podrás degustar la famosa trucha parcialmente fermentada típica de la zona, plato al que se le rinde homenaje durante el festival Rakfisk en noviembre.

    Puedes encontrar buenas opciones para alojarte en muchos lugares, como por ejemplo la ciudad de Fagernes.

    Día 6: Fagernes–Nesbyen o Elverum

    A medio camino entre Bergen y Oslo, Hallingdal ofrece numerosos planes. El valle cuenta con zonas bien acondicionadas para la práctica del esquí, ciclismo y senderismo. Las pequeñas localidades de Gol, Geilo, Ål, Nesbyen, y Hemsedal suponen excelentes puntos de partida y disponen de una variada oferta de alojamiento. Si quieres tener un contacto cercano con osos y otras criaturas típicas de esta zona de Noruega, visita el Parque Natural de Langedrag y el Parque de osos de Flå.

    Ruta alternativa: hacia Elverum, en Østerdal.
    El río más largo de Noruega, el Glomma, da forma al valle de Østerdal Al sur de la localidad de Glåmdalen, el valle, con su característico paisaje, cambia de nombre y se convierte en el valle de Glåmdal. Ambos valles ofrecen numerosos planes tanto en la montaña, como a orillas del río o incluso en el agua. Puedes pasar la noche en Elverum.

    Día 7: Nesbyen–Nore (Numedal)

    Distancia: 65 kilómetros

    Entre los amplios y frondosos valles del este de Noruega, Numedal es el que se encuentra más al sur. Aquí puedes visitar típicas iglesias medievales de madera que son importantes recordatorios de un glorioso pasado. Las tradiciones de Numedal como ruta mercantil durante la Edad Media son celebradas cada año en verano en la Middelalderuka (la semana medieval).

    El Parque Nacional de Hardangervidda es perfecto para esquiar y hacer senderismo, y todo el valle de Numedal está especializado en proveer alojamiento en tradicionales cabañas de madera, así como otras alternativas igualmente cómodas.

    Día 8: Nore–Rjukan

    Duración estimada del viaje en coche: 1 hora y 50 minutos
    Distancia: 110 kilómetros

    Partiendo de Numedal, la carretera hacia la pequeña localidad de Rjukan, en Telemark, refleja el discreto encanto de las zonas rurales en Noruega. Rjukan está situada en la parte más profunda de un valle extrañamente angosto, tan estrecho que ha obligado a colocar un espejo en lo alto de la montaña para que los rayos de sol lleguen a la ciudad en invierno.

    No muy lejos de aquí se encuentra el Parque Nacional de Hardangervidda, con grandes opciones para el senderismo y el esquí, en función de la estación del año. Desde la montaña de Gaustatoppen, a unos 1.883 metros de altitud, se puede observar hasta una sexta parte de Noruega en días despejados.
