Aksla is located 110 meters above sea level, and there are 500 steps up to the lookout point.

You use about 45 minutes up and down. This is a nice walk for morning and evening exercise.

The trail continues to Akslahornet which is 411 meters above sea level. The trip to Akslahornet is by a path that is steep and airy. You will find a small "via ferrata" with chains and metal steps in the airiest places. From the top of Akslahornet you can continue a trail to Digergubben where the hammock park is located.

The stones for the stairs are taken from local mountains and the stairs protect the mountain in a sustainable way. The Midsundtrappene Aksla was built by Midsund IL in 2018.

Aksla/Akslahornet is one of the four Midsundtrappene, on Otrøya and Midøya island. They are all build by sherpas from Nepal and are an impressive construction that will be enjoyed for hundreds of years.

This is the four Midsund stairs:
Rørsethornet 659 masl - Norway's longest continuous stone staircase.
Digergubben 527 masl - straight up from Midsund center, can also be combined with Midsundhornet 483 masl.
Bløkallen 522 masl - perhaps the nicest trip along the old Kløvstien? Tour start on Midøya.
Aksla & Akslahornet - the shortest trip to the viewpoint Aksla, challenging on to Akslahornet.
