In the Northwest region we have many fantastic waterfalls! And probably is this a well kept secret, - several of the are listed on the world's highest waterfall list. Here are some of them:
Vinnufossen - probably the highest waterfall in Norway, with its hight of 860 meters, highest in Europe and the 6th highest in the world. (Sunndal)
Mardalsfossen - having a total hight of 655 meters, with a 297 meter water drop into the valley. This is the fourth highest waterfall in the world (free drop). (Nesset)
Åmotan - a great natural phenomena with seven rivers that comes toghether, and three of them makes the impressive waterfall down towards Åmotan. (Sunndal)
Stigfossen - this is a highlight in Trollstigen, and is about 239 meters high. The road passes Stigfossen waterfall over an impressive stone bridge, and you might get a free shower while passing the bridge! (Rauma)
Slettafossen - down into the gorge south of Verma in Romsdalen. There is a parking area and viewpoints to get the best views to the river/waterfall. (Rauma)
Vermafossen - Going by the Rauma railway, you will see this wonderful waterfall really close. The train is slowing down the speed while passing the waterfall. From the car road (E136) there is a marked walking path to the photo spot and information board. (Rauma)
