The island Hidra

Hidra is a scenic island just outside of Flekkefjord. It is accessible via a car ferry.
Hidra is the place where Southern Norway meets Western Norway. A canal divides the island into two. In short: stunning nature, beautiful cultural landscapes, numerous historical sites, and a rich coastal culture. Hidra has just under 600 permanent residents.
Here, you will find many accommodation options, a general store, the restaurant Isbua, the café Bakrommet, and the fascinating coastal museum Fedrenes Minne. Handicrafts can be purchased in Kirkehavn. Don’t forget to visit Berit’s glass and weaving shop.
For a great view of the island, a visit to Hågåsen is recommended. At the top of the mountain, there is an old coastal battery. The hike from the parking lot takes about half an hour. Don't forget to bring a picnic basket!
To get to the island of Hidra, you need to take the Hidra car ferry. The trip takes 7 minutes and is free. You can find the timetable here.
