“Utterly stunning, Audience members picked their jaws up off the floor.” – Washington Post
Alash are masters of Tuvan throat singing, a remarkable technique for singing several notes at once, and they are also masters of traditional Tuvan instruments. Many have heard the legendary Huun Huur Tu from Tuva perform in concert, but what sets the previous generations of Tuvan throat singers from the Alash Ensemble apart is that this trio combines modern elements with traditional music. In the belief that traditional music must be constantly evolving, these talented musicians subtly add Western elements to their songs, creating their own unique style that is fresh and new, yet still true to their Tuvan musical heritage.
This music is so great and unique that most people who have heard throat singing for the first time, can date the time before and after the concert!
“There are plenty of recordings of Tuvan throat singing out there, but they can’t compare to witnessing such sonic magic in real time.” – Washington Post
