Knut Vaage / Bjørn Sortland: The Night People
An adventurous family opera
Recommended for ages 8 and up
About the concert
The mayor and investors want to cut down the old oak forest to build cabins. Young men Ciril and Noah take up the fight to save the forest and everyone who lives there.
The Night People is a humorous family opera for everyone from 8 years old and up. The opera is simply about deforestation and the need to take care of nature – a well-known theme in today's Norway – but it is also about the joy of singing!
The opera mixes a number of styles and references from both opera history – such as Mozart's The Magic Flute and Bizet's Carmen – and famous Norwegian children's songs, pop music, contemporary music and rhythmic antics. The story is serious and humorous at the same time – it is simply a bird opera that speaks for nature. The opera is written by Knut Vaage and Bjørn Sortland, who are behind, among other things, the series Kunstdetektivene and the Mission series about agent Johnny 777.
On stage is a strong Trøndelag team, with roles played by Maia Reppe, Håvard Stensvold and Siv Oda Hagerupsen, among others.
The opera is a national collaboration between Bergen National Opera, the Norwegian Opera & Ballet and Trondheim Symphony Orchestra & Opera.
Tickets will go on sale, stay tuned at tso.no.
