This evening is dedicated to Anton Webern, the Austrian composer known as the master of silence.
His finely chiselled, precise compositions are charged with weight, despite the sparing use of notes. Like in a museum, where every object is deliberately placed and carefully curated, Webern’s selected tones are measured and thoughtfully considered, with all excess stripped away.
“Clarity! Clarity! Über alles Klarheit!”
– Anton Webern
In a time when we are inundated with sound and impressions, the church space has gained a renewed appeal, and BIT20 Ensemble wishes to invite the audience to an introspective experience at Nykirken. Treat yourself to a pause and step into a space for reflection and great art.
Fanboy
Artistic director and conductor for the evening, Bjarni Frímann, is perhaps Webern’s greatest fanboy. In his childhood bedroom, a framed picture of the composer stood on his bedside table. Lean back this Tuesday evening as Bjarni tells the story of why Webern is so special.
On the church floor stands a full ensemble – ready to turn you into a fanboy or fangirl too.
