    High On Fire

The metal legends High on Fire come to USF Verftet Tickets on sale from Wednesday 4 February at 11.00. No mercy, no filter: High on Fire come to Bergen on 18 August. When they take over USF Verftet, the stage is set for an evening of uncompromising metal and raw power of a rare caliber. The band from Oakland, with Matt Pike at the helm, is known for heavy riffs, raw energy and an expression that has always gone its own way – far from the polished and predictable. In 2019, High on Fire were awarded a Grammy for Best Metal Performance for the album Electric Messiah, securing their well-deserved place among metal’s biggest names. The award brought increased attention to the band, without changing what has always defined them: an uncompromising musical expression and complete dedication to their own style. With drummer Coady Willis on board, High on Fire have further developed their sound, something that is clearly evident on their latest album Cometh the Storm. The record appears as both a continuation and a renewal of the band’s core: brutal heaviness, driving tempo and a dark, almost apocalyptic atmosphere. On stage, High on Fire are an experience – a massive wall of riffs, pounding drums and an intense presence that hits you right in the gut. This is sweaty, loud and uncompromising metal craftsmanship delivered by a band that lives for the moment on stage. When the lights go down at USF Verftet on 18 August at 20.00, only one thing matters: pure, unfiltered power. Secure your ticket, and be there when High on Fire set Bergen ablaze.

Ståle Kleiberg i samtale om Debussys musikk og poesi

About the conversation (The conversation will be held in Norwegian) In this conversation with composer and professor emeritus Ståle Kleiberg, we take a closer look at how French Symbolist poetry can serve as a gateway to understanding Debussy’s music. Debussy set to music many poems by the leading poets of his time, such as Stéphane Mallarmé, Charles Baudelaire, and Paul Verlaine. In these songs, poetry and music are closely intertwined. Unlike many of his contemporaries, Debussy does not use music to describe the literal content of the poetry. The aim is not to realistically “depict,” for example, a forest. In Debussy’s own words, the mysteries of the forest cannot be revealed by measuring the height of the trees. Rather than portraying the forest itself in his music, Debussy uses musical symbols to convey a person’s response to being in the forest. With this, he ushered in a new chapter in music history. Which techniques does Debussy use to achieve this? What are these musical symbols? These questions will be the focus of a conversation that takes us inside Debussy’s music and the poetry he set to music. The conversation can be combined with a concert of Debussy’s songs immediately following the talk. Find tickets and more information in our calendar. About the participants Ståle Kleiberg is a central Norwegian composer with significant international recognition. His music is frequently performed both in Norway and abroad, and most of his works have been commissioned by leading orchestras, ensembles, and performers. Numerous recordings of Kleiberg’s music have been released, receiving outstanding international reviews and several Grammy nominations. Kleiberg’s music is characterized by a personal and distinctive form of extended tonality and by a meticulous approach to timbral detail. This is particularly evident in his orchestral output, which includes three symphonies, symphonic poems, and a number of solo concertos. Kleiberg is professor emeritus of musicology and composition at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim. Karina Valnumsen Hansen is Senior Curator of Music at the Kode Art Museums and Composer Homes. She holds a PhD in musicology from NTNU, focusing on politics and declamation practices in W. A. Mozart’s German operas. After completing her doctorate, she served as an associate professor in musicology at NTNU before beginning a postdoctoral position at the University of Heidelberg, Germany. Her research fields include music and politics, Mozart’s biography and music, 18th-century opera, Norwegian vocal music of the 19th century, and musical declamation practices in the 18th and 19th centuries. Bugge Wesseltoft - «It's Snowing on my piano»

For nearly 30 years Bugge Wesseltoft's classic Christmas album «It's snowing on my piano» has been a guarantee of Christmas atmosphere. True to tradition, the acclaimed pianist returns with a new and exclusive Christmas concert, where audiences gather around the grand piano in Peer Gynt-salen at Grieghallen, Sunday 6 December. With over 160,000 copies sold, the Christmas classic «It's snowing on my piano» is a gigantic success in Norwegian jazz and music history. Be prepared for beautiful and subdued versions of our most beloved Christmas songs, contemplative, yet full of details for the attentive listener. Perfect medicine for blowing away acute Christmas stress! If there is a Norwegian musician with defining influence far beyond jazz, it must be Bugge Wesseltoft. In addition to being a jazz virtuoso on keyboard instruments and running the record label Jazzland Recordings, he is a pioneer in modernising electronic jazz music. At the same time he has found time to produce Jan Eggum and tour with Jan Garbarek, just to mention a fraction of his engagements. Bugge Wesseltoft talks about the background of the record himself: "Snowing on my piano" was made out of a desire for calm and peace at Christmas, and a break from stress, gift hysteria and having to be so violently happy all the time. As a young man I worked at an emergency department at a psychiatric hospital and it was a shock for me to discover that Christmas is also a season for depression, loneliness and domestic violence. When a German record label asked me to make an album with only solo piano and Christmas songs I was strongly hesitant, but in the end chose to record it on the condition that I could do it in my own way. Being fond of each other and having time for each other is the most important thing we can do at Christmas."

    Avoid Aas - Antiquarian

Unnveig Aas has sung her way into the hearts of many with her striking voice and distinctive musical expression in recent years. With almost four albums released, one of which (Young Heart, 2019) was nominated for Spellemann in the Country category, we can say that Unnveig is well established as a musician in this country! Her latest EP "Amused By A Muse" came out in the fall of 2025, and has received praise and a list spot on NRK P3 Musikk. More music is coming in 2026! Aas has played concerts all over Norway, as well as Germany, Sweden and Denmark. She is known for making the audience dance, cry and laugh. The music is full of contrasts. It is quiet and contained, but also at times catchy and danceable. With inspiration from country, pop, rock and folk, she experiments with open guitar tunings and synths and creates a sound that stands out in the Norwegian music scene. Aas is also an author and has published two poetry collections. Her lyrics are poetic and painful and are performed in a heartfelt way. About "Amused By A Muse": "Bittersweet, painful and stunningly beautiful" - Kristin Winsents, Music Director NRK P3 Music "Among the best Norwegian releases of the year" - Popklikk.no "(...) songs that will probably both comfort you and tear you to shreds" - GAFFA Norway

    The Other End

The Other End is part of a wave of up-and-coming indie and Americana artists in Norway. In 2023, they made their debut with the album The Sun Will Do You Good, They Said, which received rave reviews in the Norwegian press. Dagbladet gave it a 6, calling it a "sensational debut." Last year, The Other End returned with the album Core Values. Popklikk named the album the best Norwegian release of 2025. Musikknyheter called it “.. one of the best Norwegian albums of the fall.” They also played a support concert at Moskus, which was one of last year’s most pleasant surprises! The single Peeking Over the Top was A-listed on NRK P3 Musikk throughout the fall and was even the most played song on Stjernepose on P3 Musikk that season. Core Values is about being caught between roles, always a little in the wrong place. Inspired by UX designers with rap careers, haiku poets with laptop bags and bank jobs, artists balancing creativity and everyday life. The Other End has already played at Øyafestivalen, SXSW (Austin, Texas), New Colossus Festival (New York), as well as a number of concerts in Norway and abroad. The duo consists of Ida Knoph-Solholm and Alexander Breidvik. The concert is a mix of sitting and standing, if you want to sit you should get there early. No seat reservations!

    Addison Johnson

Addison Johnson (US) North Carolina /Nashville-Tennessee Look forward to an evening of honest country. We've had Addison spin a few times now on the player, and the songs just get better and better. Check it out wherever you listen to music. The album "Dangerous Men" and the single from last year "Maybe I'm lonely too" are recommended. Born and raised in the home of the "Moonshiners" - the Blueridge Mountains in North Carolina - Addison's Songs bring an honest and society reflecting style of Country Music with it. Different than other musicians' careers, Addison was not born within a musicians' family. Already at a young age, he decided by himself to make a living out of Country Music – moved to Nashville alone with only a couple of bucks in his pocket. After a very rough start and an unmatched work-ethic, he managed to get touring the USA from east to west coast every year since. The hard life of a young touring artist formed not only his down to earth character, but also his view of real life in today's society. His outstanding talent of songwriting is nowadays well respected within the industry and so is not only his own music growing, but also his international fanbase! The concert is a mix of sitting and standing, if you want to sit you should get there early. No seat reservations!

Sold out// Toria Woof at Moskus

Fantastic artist, you just have to check it out! Egon Holstad is absolutely right here: That one of last year's best albums was made by a woman still in her twenties (she turns 30 in September), who is, to top it all, from England, of all "countries", is not exactly something I would put money on. That the tip would come from Bodø, of all places, makes the combination of strange elements border on overwhelming, but still absolutely top-notch, in every way. If someone had asked me to guess, I would have put a lot of money on her being Canadian or American, because there is very little here that sends associations to her own geographical origins, even though in recent years there has started to be a good crop of excellent folk/country from the UK. To take the most important thing first, because the most striking thing here, besides where both she and the tip about her come from, is the sky-high level of her songs. She must have simply heard a lot from the American songbook. It's not accurate at all anyway. The important thing is that these songs reach as many people as possible. "The Flood" was one of the very best songs released in all of 2025. It's so beautiful, magnificent, tastefully elegant, and enormous that it's completely swoon-worthy. It starts with a very gentle and absolutely beautiful pedal steel (by Scott Poley, who is unknown to me), before the song itself slowly but surely builds up and up and keeps you soaring in a way that only such epic songs can, and where you hope you never land. "Author Song" has something Springsteen-esque and Nabraska-esque about it, only enhanced with vague, enchanting lap steel. You think that's how the album would sound, if Gillian Welch and David Rawlings performed it, or Lucinda Williams in 1988. "The Waltz of Winter Hey" sounds like the brilliant sequel to Mirel Wagner that never came. The song "Song for A" is even reminiscent of Townes Van Zandt's "Tecumseh Valley". "A Song For" was the title of one of the man's very best songs, so I've decided that this is a kind of subtle greeting and homage from her to Townes. There is a lot of Townes on this album. Then you are on the right track in most things, minus the lifestyle. She also sings absolutely fantastically, but manages to hold back, where others would go to great lengths to constantly show how incredibly good they are at singing. Instead, she just lets the words and notes weave together reliably, as if she has been doing this for twice as long as she has been alive. "Mountains" even makes me think of our own Malin Pettersen, while newer names like Ken Pomeroy and Mirel Wagner also come to mind, while oldies like Cohen and Dylan are inevitable. So there is hope for, not only Bodø and England, but also for the new generations of songwriters. As well as the undersigned, a little over a year after the album came out. But better late than never, etc.

After over 20 years and 7 albums, it is time to have them on stage in Trondheim. Smokie – The Legacy Tour

🎫Tickets on sale from Friday, October 24th 10:00 Smokie – The Legacy Tour Smokie is now experiencing a new spring, playing in all the biggest and finest arenas, and has fantastic ticket sales. This is the eternally popular band that first broke through in Norway with "If you think you know how to love me" in 1975 and which the following year was on the charts for a full 33 weeks with the smash hit "Living next door to Alice". They continued to deliver big hits and bestsellers until well into the 90s, and they are the band that has been on the VG list the longest, with the Beatles as a good second. Since then, Smokie has almost become part of the Norwegian language. Whether you like them or not, everyone knows who they are and knows some of their songs. They have a large and very loyal audience in large parts of the world. Since recently, bassist Terry Uttley has unfortunately passed away. He has been replaced by Luke Bullard, son of keyboardist Martin Bullard. Luke has been a regular substitute for Terry for the past four years and is therefore already well known to many Smokie fans. Martin Bullard, along with drummer Steve Pinnell, has been in Smokie since 1988. Last year, Mike Craft chose to step down after being the vocalist for 26 years, and he has been replaced by a very good old friend of the band, Pete Lincoln. Pete has been the frontman of famous bands such as Sweet and Sailor, and worked with several big international stars such as Sir Cliff Richard, Tina Turner and Shakin Stevens. Mick McConnell plays guitar and mandolin, and has done so since 1996. This group played their first concerts in Helsingborg and Malmö in November 2021, to two full houses and an enthusiastic audience. Many believe that the band has never been better than it is now. Norway is still one of the countries that means the most to them, and that is why they continue to come back here to meet their enthusiastic audience, year after year. They have sold almost two million records in Norway alone and with them in their luggage they have all the good, old songs, as well as some newer material.

Established in 1977 and still fronted by Dennis Greaves & Mark Feltham. The band formed in South London in 1977, originally under the name Stan's Blues Band. With an explosive mix of high-energy blues, rock and pub rock, they quickly became a force to be reckoned with on the British live scene The band changed their name to Nine Below Zero in 1979, inspired by Sonny Boy Williamson's classic blues song of the same name. Their reputation quickly grew thanks to their intense live shows. Nine Below Zero broke through with the live album "Live at the Marquee" (1980) – an album that captured the band's incredible energy on stage and became a hit in the midst of the punk wave that was sweeping across England. There's something special about bands that have been going for almost 50 years – they have nothing to prove, but everything to give. Nine Below Zero today turn any stage into a sweaty, pulsating blues club in early 1980s London. Guitarist Dennis Greaves stands as always at the forefront, with his effortless cool and riffs that sit like a cast in the spine. And then we have Mark Feltham, whose harmonica can bring both fur and tears to the audience who really came to stomp the beat with a beer in hand. Nine Below Zero is no longer a young and hungry band – but they still play as if it were their last night on earth. An evening filled with solid craftsmanship. There's something huge about the band's presence – like a compressor that never lets up. Get your ticket today:

Elvis Tribute - with the Skjærvik brothers

Get ready for an evening that will take you right back to the peak of Elvis' career. “Aloha from Hawaii” was the concert that made history – the first to be broadcast via satellite to millions of viewers worldwide. Now this legendary experience is being recreated in Olavshallen, with the same songs, energy and expression that made the original immortal. The Skjærvik Brothers deliver a tribute to Elvis Presley as it should be experienced: authentic, powerful and with great respect. With strong vocal performances, a full band, choir and orchestra of nearly 30 participants, everything is in place for a magnificent musical experience. This is a journey back to the glory days, where the audience can expect moments that strike right to the heart. At the same time, there is a very special story behind the scenes: From the children's room at Jøa, where the brothers first discovered Elvis through their father's LPs, to sold-out concerts in Namdalen – and now to Olavshallen. What started as a shared passion has grown into a production that brings together musicians, choirs and the audience in a tribute to “The King of Rock 'n Roll”. This concert also carries with it a personal desire – to continue the legacy and love of Elvis music that started in the family. The result is a performance with both weight, warmth and authenticity – and an evening you don't want to miss. Welcome to an unforgettable Elvis experience.

    Mozart & Bruckner

    – classic elegance and romantic storms of emotion Conductor: Anthony Hermus Soloist, piano: Christian Ihle Hadland Program Wolfgang A. Mozart: Piano Concerto No. 26 Anton Bruckner: Symphony No. 7 About the concert The contrasts in tonight's concert are great, from Mozart's sparkling Coronation Concerto to Bruckner's majestic masterpiece of a symphony, from light-footed piano playing to heartfelt brass chorale. Twenty years ago, in 2006, Christian Ihle Hadland played Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 26 with the TSO here in Olavshallen. Now the star pianist is back with the same piece on the same concert stage, and we can promise sparkling virtuosity and elegant musicianship in the piano concerto. The leap is made to Bruckner's Symphony No. 7, his musical memorial to Richard Wagner, who died the same year the symphony was completed. A grand symphony that is both majestic and lyrical, (elegiac and rural,) vulnerable and dramatic – a worthy memorial and Bruckner's greatest success.

Young men Ciril and Noah take up the fight to save the forest and everyone who lives there. The Night People is a humorous family opera for everyone from 8 years old and up. The opera is simply about deforestation and the need to take care of nature – a well-known theme in today's Norway – but it is also about the joy of singing! The opera mixes a number of styles and references from both opera history – such as Mozart's The Magic Flute and Bizet's Carmen – and famous Norwegian children's songs, pop music, contemporary music and rhythmic antics. The story is serious and humorous at the same time – it is simply a bird opera that speaks for nature. The opera is written by Knut Vaage and Bjørn Sortland, who are behind, among other things, the series Kunstdetektivene and the Mission series about agent Johnny 777. On stage is a strong Trøndelag team, with roles played by Maia Reppe, Håvard Stensvold and Siv Oda Hagerupsen, among others. The opera is a national collaboration between Bergen National Opera, the Norwegian Opera & Ballet and Trondheim Symphony Orchestra & Opera. Tickets will go on sale, stay tuned at tso.no.
  • Hedvig Mollestad Weejuns on Musk

    22.10.2026

    Hedvig Mollestad Weejuns on Musk

Hedvig Mollestad Weejuns: When the riffs roll and the music knows no boundaries In recent years, Mollestad has really managed to make a mark as a guitar hero without a filter. She has toured the world with her solid trio, stolen the show at festivals and cracked the codes for both jazz and rock. She has also won Spellemann awards in the Open Class two years in a row, and in 2023 she was Artist in Residence at Moldejazz. No wonder people talk about her as one of the most important voices on the Norwegian music scene. Weejuns, her latest project, kicks from the first chord! Weejuns is a trio that sets the standard for the extreme. On the team is the legendary Ståle Storløkken, a keyboard master who has played with everything from Terje Rypdal to Supersilent, Sunsanne Sundfør and Elephant9. On the drums we find Ole Mofjell, one of the best drummers on the European improv scene – so we're talking about a dream team that delivers the goods. The songs? They are far from standard! It's all about freedom, but it's not free jazz. In Weejuns there are long, hypnotic parts that pull you into a musical universe where anything can happen. Here time and space are bent, the traditional song structures are unleashed and replaced by an open landscape filled with sparkling interplay. It's as if you step into an irresistible nightmare and wake up to a glimmer of light of riffs and rhythms. Rypdal, Deep Purple, Soft Machine, Mahavishnu Orchestra – you recognize the genres, but with a new twist, like a trail through the darkness. So are you looking for something to turn up the volume on, or are you ready to give your ears a buzz with something that both shakes and pumps? Then Weejuns is your ticket to a musical journey you won't soon forget. Just hang in there – the solos are long, the riffs come at the end, and they come hard and something so improbably good! HEDVIG MOLLESTAD WEEJUNS Hedvig Mollestad Thomassen – guitar steele stroløkken – organ Ole Mofjell – drums About the debut album: There's a lot of golden age prog and jazz rock here, adventurously searching and flowing, but with a unique ability to fall into irresistible grooves and riffs that call for rock music. Dagens Næringsliv It moves relentlessly forward, challenges borders and approaches. It's brilliant. Lira (SE) Mollestad has always had to barrel hoop her energies to bring form to her eruptive powers (…) but with Weejuns, the corsets are off. This live double album captures the trio improvising extensively, with written-in hooks and riffs keeping the three oriented. Jazzwise (UK) The encapsulating live double album comes as a welcome return for one of the most perplexing and original contemporary artists in Europe today. Presto Music (UK)

    Berlioz: Symphonie Fantastique

    – energetic and passionate Conductor: Adam Hickox Soloist, piano: Kirill Gerstein Program Igor Stravinsky: Feu d'artifice (Fireworks) Thomas Adès: Concerto for piano and orchestra Hector Berlioz: Symphonie Fantastique About the concert Adam Hickox and the TSO invite you to another star-studded evening, full of fireworks, dancing piano playing and musical horror visions. And we are so lucky to finally have world-famous piano star Kirill Gerstein with us and the Norwegian premiere of Thomas Ades' playful piano concerto. We open the concert with Stravinsky's Feu d'artifice (Fireworks) , a colorful fanfare full of exuberant energy, which lays the foundation for what is to come. Ades and Gerstein have collaborated for many years and Ades' Concerto for Piano and Orchestra was written for Gerstein. He impresses in this concerto which is both sparklingly elegant, virtuosic and expressive, and he masters every aspect to the tips of his fingers, naturally and unaffectedly, in a concerto which has been described as a "dance with traditions". Berlioz's mighty Symphonie Fantastique is the very first instrumental drama in music history, as Berlioz himself called it, in which the music is accompanied by an explanatory program text. The symphony tells the story of a young musician with heartbreak who, in an opium intoxication, encounters increasingly distorted and terrifying visions. A wonderfully colorful work for a large orchestra that revolutionized the traditional symphony.

Jonas Fjeld puts down his bag in Trondheim // Olavshallen

🎫Tickets on sale from Thursday, April 10, 10:00 Jonas Fjeld is taking his last tour and has entertained us for more than 50 years. He has created some of Norway's national songs. He has made us laugh, cry and think with his songs and his unique ability to communicate. But everything has an end, also for Jonas Fjeld. Now the time has come to put down his bag after a life in the service of music. But first, one last tour must be carried out. Jonas Fjeld is an artist who, thanks to his long career, is more versatile than many others can dream of becoming. He started out as a gigging rocker in the crazy band Jonas Fjeld Rock ‘n’ Rolf Band, continued with serious funk recorded in the USA, made a country album in Nashville, collaborated with countless Norwegian artists on albums (Hilde Heltberg, Lillebjørn Nilsen, Randi Hansen, Ivar Medaas, Øystein Sunde and others), made a comeback as a solo artist with country-inspired folk rock, played American folk music with Rick Danko from The Band and Eric Andersen, collaborated with the viceroy Ole Paus and the rock poet Henning Kvitnes, threw himself into bluegrass with Chatham County Line, and rose to the top with the legendary Judy Collins. Not to mention the Jonas Fjeld Band, which was a leader in Norwegian rock in the 80s with two Spellemann awards. Which emphasizes that Jonas Fjeld is an artist out of the ordinary – not only in a Norwegian, but also international context. Now he is approaching the finish line, and it should be celebrated. Because even though this will be his last tour, it's not about hanging your head and saying goodbye. On the contrary - at these concerts Jonas Fjeld will appear as the artist he fundamentally is: An artist who loves his audience, who loves performing, and who is able to enjoy the moment. Every concert on this tour will be a party. But bring a handkerchief, just in case. Because if there's one thing Jonas Fjeld really knows, it's eliciting emotions in us. There's no one like him. THAT should be celebrated.
