Lo creas o no, según dice la leyenda, el sexo puede darte buena suerte con la pesca. Y quién sabe, puede que también te de suerte con otras actividades...

La mejor época para ir a pescar al norte de Noruega

La temporada alta va de mayo a septiembre. Durante los meses de verano, es posible pescar durante las 24 horas del día gracias al sol de medianoche.

A los más aficionados les interesará también la pesca de invierno, especialmente la del famoso skrei (una especie de bacalao), que se realiza de enero a marzo. Hará frío y estará oscuro, pero si tienes suerte podrás ver la danza de las auroras boreales sobre el firmamento.

Si hablas con algún noruego antes de ir a pescar en el norte de Noruega, es bastante probable que te hagan la siguiente pregunta:

¿Has puesto de tu parte para tener haill?, seguida de una carcajada.

El término haill viene a decir que si practicas sexo antes de salir a pescar, atraparás peces más grandes y en mayor cantidad.

Haill es una creencia tradicional que se da especialmente entre la población del norte de Noruega. Si bien al principio suena un poco a broma, lo cierto es que puede que tenga algo de verdad.

La doctora Torunn Christiansen, especialista en medicina de familia en el hospital de Nordlandsykehuset, lleva tiempo preguntándose por qué la gente del norte aún mantiene esta creencia en la actualidad.

Una pequeña ayuda

Además, encontró una manera de enfocar el tema basándose en una hipótesis que podría tener sentido:

“La dopamina es parte del sistema de recompensas de nuestro cuerpo, y se libera a consecuencia de determinadas acciones, como cuando salimos a cazar o nos provocan un orgasmo. Me parece interesante cómo el haill asocia el sexo con la supervivencia”, comenta Christiansen.

“Tras mantener relaciones sexuales, nuestros sistema cognitivo funciona mejor, tenemos una actitud más positiva y tomamos mejores decisiones, por lo que no es nada descabellado decir que el sexo mejora los resultados de la pesca”, añade.

Por no mencionar los beneficios que tiene sobre las relaciones de pareja.

Si quieres conectar con los norteños, pregúntale a uno qué tipo de haill creen que funciona mejor: Un haill reciente, uno antiguo, el haill de un desconocido o alguno de otra índole.

Tipos de haill:

Ferskt haill (haill fresco): cuando han pasado de 0 a 48 horas; el mejor que existe.

Mellomhaill (haill medio): de 48 a 72 horas desde el último coito.

Gammalhaill (haill maduro): si pasan más de 72 horas o se hace con alguien al menos veine años mayor.

Drømmehaill (haill de ensueño): sueños eróticos que provocan la misma satisfacción que el haill normal.

Telefonhaill (haill telefónico): cuando recibes un mensaje o llamada subido de tono antes de salir a pescar.

Fremmedhaill (haill del desconocido): el que proviene de un rollo de una noche.

Sjølhaill (autohaill): ¿No te comes un rosco? Hazte un solitario.

La importancia del haill

El haill solía tener una connotación más seria. Hasta más o menos 1930, el haill tenía como objetivo favorecer la pesca del fletán, una especie muy codiciada que podía llegar a pesar más de 200 kilos. Conocido como “el rey del mar” el fletán podía sustentar a toda una familia como ningún otro tipo de pescado.

Sin embargo, la pesca de esta especie, además de ser peligrosa, implicaba tener que soportar unas duras condiciones climáticas y laborales.

“Haill refleja la relación entre el pescador y su mujer. Se trataba de un término que se usaba en la intimidad, no en público, y se decía que la suerte o haill provenía de tu pareja. Tenías que elegir a la persona adecuada, alguien que te diera la suerte suficiente para mantener tu núcleo familiar, pues era la mujer quien tenía el haill”, explica Marit Anne Hauan, experta en folclore.

En la actualidad, ya no dependemos de la pesca del fletán para llevar una vida cómoda, por lo que el término haill ha ido tomando una connotación más humorística. No obstante, la gente del norte de Noruega sigue diciendo godt haill para desearle a otro buena suerte con la pesca.

Dado que pescar un fletán es algo bastante poco común, el principal sustento de la mayoría de los pescadores del norte de Noruega es el bacalao. Todos los años, el bacalao emigra del mar de Barents para desovar en la costa del norte. Esta delicia se conoce como skrei, y se ha convertido en la especie que más se asocia con el concepto de haill. Vivir la aventura del skrei es algo obligatorio si visitas el norte de Noruega.
