Un viaje por carretera con vistas en Andøya
Andøya se encuentra en el extremo norte de Vesterålen, en el Norte de Noruega.
La ruta panorámica de Andøya recorre la costa oeste de la isla, entre Andenes en el norte y Bjørnskinn en el sur.
Puedes alquilar un coche en uno de los aeropuertos o una bicicleta en los hoteles de la zona. La ruta de 58 kilómetros es ideal para recorrerla en bici: no hay grandes cuestas y el paisaje costero es variado y precioso.
Widerøe ofrece vuelos desde Tromsø y Bodø al aeropuerto de Andøya, y el aeropuerto regional de Evenes está a tan solo dos horas de allí. En verano, esta aerolínea Norwegian cuenta con vuelos directos de Oslo a Andøya.

Comenzamos en Andenes, la mayor urbe de Andøya.
Si tienes intención de hacer un safari de ballenas (lo cual es muy recomendable), Andenes es el punto de partida.
Norte de Noruega, y concretamente Vesterålen, ofrecen algunas de las mejores excursiones para realizar un avistamiento de ballenas, y las probabilidades de que os topéis con alguna son muy altas.

Cerca de Andenes tomamos un pequeño desvío y nos salimos un poco de la ruta... ¡rumbo al espacio!
La isla cuenta con la única base permanente de lanzamiento de cohetes de Noruega, Andøya Space.
En el museo Spaceship Aurora podrás ver lo que se siente al lanzar tu propio cohete y aprenderás un montón de cosas sobre las fascinantes auroras boreales.
Nuestra próxima parada es Kleivodden, una zona de descanso al pie de unas montañas muy escarpadas.
Desde allí podrás disfrutar de unas vistas espectaculares a la playa de Bleik, de la isla de Bleik con forma de cono y del infinito horizonte del océano.
Atraviesa la oscuridad por el único túnel de Andøya...
... y llegarás a esta increíble playa de arena blanca.
Bleikstranda recuerda más a los paisajes de El señor de los anillos que a uno tropical con palmeras y altas temperaturas, pero es lugar ideal para fotografiar las auroras boreales en invierno o el sol de medianoche en verano.
Desde la playa de Bleik podrás ver una isla en forma de triángulo llamada Bleiksøya.
Podría decirse que la isla en sí es un gran santuario de aves, pues alberga la mayor colonia de frailecillos del país. Conócelos de cerca en un safari guiado.
¡Puede que también llegues a ver águilas de cola blanca!
También es posible hacer una excursión de pesca. La pesca en altamar es una aventura muy de Norte de Noruega.
Si el tiempo acompaña, prepara comida y sube al monte Røyken, desde donde podrás ver Bleik.
No se requiere un gran estado físico para llegar a la cima, y al hacerlo podrás disfrutar de unas vistas maravillosas de la playa de Bleik, el pintoresco pueblo de Andenes y los humedales de moras del Ártico.
Si quieres hacer más senderismo, tienes la ruta de costa que va de Bleik a Stave.
A lo largo de este recorrido, verás zonas con humedales, zonas rocosas junto a la costa, playas y montañas...
La montaña de Måtind es el punto más alto de la costa. Es el lugar desde donde obtendrás las mejores vistas.
Una vez llegues a la localidad de Stave, podrás relajarte en una de sus piscinas de agua caliente y saunas junto a la playa mientras disfrutas del sonido de las olas. Se trata de una experiencia que te permitirá relajar cuerpo y mente.
La siguiente parada merece la pena hacerla incluso si no tienes ganas de ir al baño.
Noruega cuenta con algunos de los baños públicos más increíbles del mundo, incluido este de Bukkekjerka, cuyo espejo unidireccional te permite disfrutar de vistas panorámicas al mar (y esto sentado cómodamente sobre el retrete).
No te pierdas su pequeño faro, Børhella fyr, a tan solo un breve paseo desde el aparcamiento.
Y de fondo verás el recorrido serpenteante de la carretera.
Antes de poner rumbo al suroeste de la isla, no te olvides de visitar Marmelkroken. Este complejo natural con un toque rústico ofrece muy buen alojamiento y comidas y también actividades emocionantes.
Además, cuenta con un refugio que te permitirá disfrutar de la naturaleza del Ártico haga el tiempo que haga. ¡Puede que incluso llegues a ver algunas especies de aves!
Es recomendable también visitar la zona este de la isla.
En Dverberg, encontrarás la cafetería y tienda más bonita del lugar, llamada Alveland, (la tierra de los elfos), que se especializa en crear productos naturales, jabones artesanales y unos bollos de canela recién hechos que están de infarto.
Una vez vuelvas a Andenes, recuerda hacer una parada en el icónico faro de Andenes. Con sus 40 metros de altura, se trata de uno de los mayores faros de Noruega.
Andenes cuenta además con tiendas, restaurantes y alojamiento para que puedas pasar la noche.
