Trondheim en verano

¡Una ciudad con chispa
y mucho sabor!

    The Other End

The Other End is part of a wave of up-and-coming indie and Americana artists in Norway. In 2023, they made their debut with the album The Sun Will Do You Good, They Said, which received rave reviews in the Norwegian press. Dagbladet gave it a 6, calling it a "sensational debut." Last year, The Other End returned with the album Core Values. Popklikk named the album the best Norwegian release of 2025. Musikknyheter called it “.. one of the best Norwegian albums of the fall.” They also played a support concert at Moskus, which was one of last year’s most pleasant surprises! The single Peeking Over the Top was A-listed on NRK P3 Musikk throughout the fall and was even the most played song on Stjernepose on P3 Musikk that season. Core Values is about being caught between roles, always a little in the wrong place. Inspired by UX designers with rap careers, haiku poets with laptop bags and bank jobs, artists balancing creativity and everyday life. The Other End has already played at Øyafestivalen, SXSW (Austin, Texas), New Colossus Festival (New York), as well as a number of concerts in Norway and abroad. The duo consists of Ida Knoph-Solholm and Alexander Breidvik. The concert is a mix of sitting and standing, if you want to sit you should get there early. No seat reservations!

Fantastic artist, you just have to check it out! Egon Holstad is absolutely right here: That one of last year's best albums was made by a woman still in her twenties (she turns 30 in September), who is, to top it all, from England, of all "countries", is not exactly something I would put money on. That the tip would come from Bodø, of all places, makes the combination of strange elements border on overwhelming, but still absolutely top-notch, in every way. If someone had asked me to guess, I would have put a lot of money on her being Canadian or American, because there is very little here that sends associations to her own geographical origins, even though in recent years there has started to be a good crop of excellent folk/country from the UK. To take the most important thing first, because the most striking thing here, besides where both she and the tip about her come from, is the sky-high level of her songs. She must have simply heard a lot from the American songbook. It's not accurate at all anyway. The important thing is that these songs reach as many people as possible. "The Flood" was one of the very best songs released in all of 2025. It's so beautiful, magnificent, tastefully elegant, and enormous that it's completely swoon-worthy. It starts with a very gentle and absolutely beautiful pedal steel (by Scott Poley, who is unknown to me), before the song itself slowly but surely builds up and up and keeps you soaring in a way that only such epic songs can, and where you hope you never land. "Author Song" has something Springsteen-esque and Nabraska-esque about it, only enhanced with vague, enchanting lap steel. You think that's how the album would sound, if Gillian Welch and David Rawlings performed it, or Lucinda Williams in 1988. "The Waltz of Winter Hey" sounds like the brilliant sequel to Mirel Wagner that never came. The song "Song for A" is even reminiscent of Townes Van Zandt's "Tecumseh Valley". "A Song For" was the title of one of the man's very best songs, so I've decided that this is a kind of subtle greeting and homage from her to Townes. There is a lot of Townes on this album. Then you are on the right track in most things, minus the lifestyle. She also sings absolutely fantastically, but manages to hold back, where others would go to great lengths to constantly show how incredibly good they are at singing. Instead, she just lets the words and notes weave together reliably, as if she has been doing this for twice as long as she has been alive. "Mountains" even makes me think of our own Malin Pettersen, while newer names like Ken Pomeroy and Mirel Wagner also come to mind, while oldies like Cohen and Dylan are inevitable. So there is hope for, not only Bodø and England, but also for the new generations of songwriters. As well as the undersigned, a little over a year after the album came out. But better late than never, etc.

  • "Every time the sun comes up I'm in trouble" - Ingvild Hovland Kaldal.
    Trondheim
    17.07.2026 - 16.08.2026

"Every time the sun comes up I'm in trouble" - Ingvild Hovland Kaldal.

Since 2013 she has been working with charcoal drawings, and this exhibition also shows several smaller works done in pastel. In recent years she has investigated the intuitive processes of drawing, with a particular interest in the borderland between the psychic, the subconscious and the hallucinatory. Drawing functions as both a method and an investigation – an opportunity to let conscious control be lifted and let the images emerge through an intuitive process. The artist has described the process as the result of a high fever, where the fever becomes a symbol for a magical or transformative state. Her works arise in direct dialogue with the materials, where spontaneous movements and physical traces become an integral part of the expression. The physicality of drawing and using the body in large and small movements to express oneself becomes a meditative practice where the body's capacity and intuition are attached to the sheet. Traces of this process, such as scratches, fingerprints, stains and tears, become part of the finished work. Like the artist, the medium is also shaped by its surroundings in the process of creation, there is a mutual influence between the work and the world. With an approach that encompasses both the vulnerable, the humorous and the absurd, Kaldal investigates how inner experiences can emerge in visual form. Her artistry is characterized by a willingness to work closely with the unpredictable, where process and presence are as central as the finished work. Ingvild Hovland Kaldal (b.1985 Trondheim) lives and works in Malmö, SE. She has a master's degree from the Malmö Academy of Fine Arts (2015). She participated in the 2016 Drawing Biennale in Oslo, and has participated in solo and group exhibitions in Norway, Finland, Germany and the USA in addition to Sweden. In Trondheim, she has previously exhibited at Galleri Blunk (2007).

Her frustration grows, pushing out feelings she has not previously been able to face. She faces a showdown. Welcome to the difficult room. "To live on" is written and directed by Nina Wester based on conversations with a family from Northern Norway who lost one of their own on Utøya. NORWEGIAN, SWEDISH AND DANISH - Live at Nye Hjorten Teater

Have you heard the one about the Norwegian, the Swede and the Dane who met at Nye Hjorten Teater? This is not a joke, but on the contrary a very entertaining and topical meeting between three strong voices from Scandinavia – and one of the most popular podcasts in the Nordic region. The Norwegian, the Swedish and the Danish is a weekly radio program and podcast broadcast on NRK (Norway), SR (Sweden) and DR (Denmark). Here, Hilde Sandvik (Norwegian journalist and presenter), Åsa Linderborg (Swedish author and public debater) and Hassan Preisler (Danish playwright and cultural figure) meet to discuss politics, culture and society – with both seriousness, brotherly teasing and a lot of humor. For Olavsfest 2026, the trio will return to Trondheim for the fourth year in a row. Previously, they have filled Byscenen and Palmehaven, but in 2025 they found a new home at the lovely Nye Hjorten Teater. Expect entertaining "family therapy" between neighboring countries! With sharp analyses, humor and deep understanding of society, The Norwegian, the Swedish and the Danish give the audience a different and thought-provoking experience – and a breather in the midst of the seriousness of the world. This is a great opportunity to experience how the free dance form 5rhythms can be experienced and learned by everyone regardless of previous experience, physical shape or age. We dance from 11:00-13:30 under the guidance of Hege: The more we dance, the more we are danced and the more we are danced the more we come into deeper contact with our inner life and the moment here and now. Our inner life expands our experience and understanding of ourselves and each other. Dance takes us into its undulating eddies of life as flowing energies. The inner life is in continuous movement and movement is transformation. The energies dance in a symphony of form and formlessness. Dance gives us unique access to our own wisdom, the wisdom and intelligence of the body. There is no right or wrong dance - no good better best in dance. Together we create a space where everyone has the opportunity to experience this in their own way. "In times of chaos - ground yourself." Gabrielle Roth (founder of 5 Rhythms) After the dance, there will be a two-hour lunch break. From 3:30 PM - 6:00 PM there will be a seminar about 5 rhythms and the different maps this dance form has to offer. There will be a look back at how Gabrielle Roth developed the structure in 5 rhythms. We will enter the different levels of 5 rhythms - waves, heartbeat, cycles, mirrors and "the silver dessert", all of which embrace the body's physical, emotional, mental, energetic and spiritual wisdom. The body's own intelligence and potential in relation to artificial intelligence that we face today? And in a world of much chaos and unrest - what role can dance play? There will of course be time and opportunity for questions and exchanges of experiences along the way. We hope for life-giving and inspiring dance days that will arouse curiosity. open spaces, provide a deeper insight into dance and expand our understanding of who we are both individually and collectively. " We are not a drop in the ocean, but the ocean in a drop ." SWEAT OUR PRAYERS / LOAN TP HOANG & SINGING BALLS / FRODE STRAND KARLSEN Dance is our universal language - wordless, powerful and deeply healing. It is our way of showing unity, solidarity and steadfastness - with all who fight for peace, freedom, justice, dignity and life. It is our silent and unwavering form of collective resistance in a wondrous world of universes in motion. No prior knowledge of dance is necessary. Everyone is welcome. Dance has no dogmas, no religion, no answer. Dance is not a thought or an idea, a consideration or a conclusion. Dance is a continuous experiential practice where we meet ourselves and other people through the natural wisdom of the body. DATE: Friday 21. VIMU Guided Tour: The Church Under the Street

In 2016, traces of a small wooden church were found in Krambugata, which was first built around the second half of the 11th century. The church was destroyed several times over a period of just over 200 years, but rebuilt time and time again – each time in wood. A fire in the 14th century marked its end. Although the church was not rebuilt at that time, the altar remained standing and was given a protective shed, or small chapel, over it. During the oldest church phase, traces of residential buildings from the end of the Viking Age were also found, giving us insight into the daily life of Trondheim's very first inhabitants. Join a tour that provides insight into a time when Trondheim was the archbishopric for the entire Norse cultural area and people's lives were permeated by the church, and a very interesting archaeological find from the area where the medieval city of Nidaros grew up. Free admission and participation in the tour.
