    29.08.2026

    Jazzpotet - Lørdag 29 august 2026

A BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO WHAT JAZZ:POTET IS FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE NEW: Even though we are a very small jazz club, we have received praise for our unique concept both at home and abroad, in the media and more, due to our own approach to running a jazz club. We are the jazz club that does not book bands, but bandleaders who are given the freedom to put together whatever they want. This always creates new sessions and music for both musicians and audiences. We will always invest in Bergen, but also have visitors from both Norway and abroad, sometimes also with International Sessions. As a Bergen jazz club we naturally take pride in this. And we are very happy to inspire other jazz clubs and concepts at home and abroad with our creativity. WE exist because you use us! Thank you so much Bergen and welcome to Jazz:potet 2025! Open mic with Mahsa and Marjan Vadat

On Friday, September 4th, we invite you again to an open microphone in Vår Frue - öppen kirke. A tradition that has offered countless surprises and touching moments. The evening starts at 6 pm with a guest artist playing a set, followed by a short break before the microphone is open to everyone. This Friday we look forward to hearing Mahsa and Marjan Vahdat! They are two Iranian sisters who have achieved international recognition for their vocal art. Since 2003 they have collaborated with Erik Hillestad and Kirkelig Kulturverksted, and an ever-growing Norwegian audience has been touched by their expressive voices. Their artistic vision is to continue and develop Persian vocal art, allowing it to be fertilised by impulses from contemporary music styles and various genres they encounter on their journey through many collaborations, not least with Norwegian jazz musicians. The musical expression they have developed is independent of borders between states, religions and ideologies. It is also imperative for them to promote Persian poetry from classical poets like Hafez and Rumi to contemporary poets like Forough Farrokhzad and Mohammad Ibrahim Jafari. Despite the fact that women's solo singing has been banned in Iran since the Islamic Revolution in 1979, Mahsa and Marjan have become powerful ambassadors for artistic freedom and women's rights in Iran. In the concert in Vår Frue Kirke on September 4th we meet them in collaboration with bassist Gjermund Silset and Armenian duduk player Harutyun Chkolyan. The concert is produced by Erik Hillestad. Would you like to read a text, a poem or sing/play a song? Please notify the program manager of your interest. If you would like accompaniment, please send a message to musician Knut Størdal on tel. 909 89 754 in advance. The event is supported by the Bergesen Foundation.

    29.08.2026

    Kunstfest Rotvoll 2026!

Welcome to Kunstfest Rotvoll 2026! On Saturday, August 29, Rotvoll Artist Collective invites you to a new edition of ART FEST! Spend a full summer day enjoying outdoor and indoor concerts, exhibitions, visual experiences, workshops, and performing arts across a variety of venues in and around the artist house. Rotvoll is a unique setting for a summer festival in Trondheim: green parks, fresh sea air, historic buildings—and perhaps most importantly, the daily workplace of 90 of Trondheim’s most prominent artists and musicians. Art Fest is all about creating intimate artistic and musical experiences, bringing audiences and artists closer together. We’ll be releasing the program gradually throughout the summer, while also leaving room for exciting surprise experiences that won’t be announced in advance. We want to keep the threshold low for experiencing culture of the highest quality. Inspired by Rosendal Theatre, we therefore operate on a “Pay What You Can” model, with several ticket categories that all provide the same festival access. You can choose whether you are able to pay NOK 300, 400, 500, 600, or 750—every ticket category grants entry to the full festival experience. Purchase your festival pass here: https://rotvollkunst.hoopla.no/event/kunstfest2026 Getting Here Bus 20 to Rotvoll, followed by a 5–7 minute walk from the stop. Train to Rotvoll Station, followed by a 4-minute walk. Free parking is available at Rotvollfjæra, just 150 meters from the festival site. Accessibility The festival is committed to making as many events and exhibitions as possible accessible to everyone. We are located in a historic building without an elevator and with several door thresholds. To improve accessibility, parts of the program take place outdoors on paved surfaces, allowing wheelchair users and others with mobility aids to move around comfortably. On the ground floor, access is also possible through the entrance in the arcade facing the courtyard. Please note that there are thresholds of up to 3 cm in height. Unfortunately, the concerts in the Chapel and C236 take place on the third floor and are not accessible by elevator. An accessible toilet and elevator are available upon request. Please contact the information booth or call our Accessibility Coordinator, Maia, at +47 412 51 603. If you have other accessibility needs or any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with Maia.

    Strauss: Thus spake Zarathustra

    – season opening that sets off sparks Conductor: Adam Hickox Soloist, cello: Truls Mørk Program Johan Svendsen: Party polonaise Antonín Dvořák: Cello Concerto Richard Strauss: Thus spake Zarathustra About the concert So, could this season opening be any more iconic? Chief conductor Adam Hickox is banging on the bass drum and has invited Truls Mørk himself to our opening concert with Strauss' legendary tone poem Also sprach Zarathustra paired with Dvořák's beautiful cello concerto. Strauss is said to have been so inspired by the beautiful poetic language of Nietzsche's Also sprach Zarathustra that he set eight of the chapter titles to music, the first of which, Sunrise, is probably the most well-known, both from film and advertising, but primarily from Stanley Kubrick's film 2001: A Space Odyssey. The tone poem conveys the stages of human development in Strauss's unmistakable tonal language and colorful orchestral palette. The virtuoso cello concerto, which Dvořák wrote during a winter sojourn in New York, has become a solid cornerstone of the classical cello repertoire and is one of the two most played cello concertos on concert stages around the world (the other being Elgar's). And when Truls Mørk, our international star cellist, interprets this heartfelt and melancholic work, we predict that the hearts of the audience will be deeply moved and touched. The concert opens, fittingly enough, with Johan Svendsen's Fest-polonaise, one of his most famous orchestral works, written for the coronation of King Oscar II. (Pssst… these two also round out the season in a season finale that sparkles with sensitivity and beauty.)

The Danish Cancer Society's Relay for Life Trondheim 2026

Welcome to the Norwegian Cancer Society's Relay for Life Trondheim, August 29 - 30, 2026 at the Finale Course at St. Olav's Hospital 💜 The Norwegian Cancer Society's Relay for Life is about supporting those affected by cancer in the local community. The guests of honor during the relay are the fighters, those who have or have had cancer themselves. You can participate by fielding a team, as a volunteer, as a fighter, or by contributing in other ways! What happens within 24 hours? The relay lasts for a full 24 hours to symbolize the struggle cancer patients are in, and that there should always be someone on the field for them. Families, friends, schools, associations and workplaces form teams and participate by having at least one team member on the field throughout the 24 hours. Behind every team there is often a story, a person that the team wants to support, remember or celebrate. Entertainment and lighting ceremony: Along the way, there will be entertainment and an atmospheric lighting ceremony. Here we will light candles in paper bags with personal greetings to remember those who have passed away, and to give strength to those who continue to fight. Who can participate? Relay for Life is organized by volunteers and is the Norwegian version of the American Relay For Life. It is free to participate, and everyone is welcome! Money is raised for the cancer cause through the sale of light bags and the teams' own digital fundraising. What does it mean to field a team? As a participant on a team, you support the cancer cause and create a meaningful experience with friends and colleagues.
