Atronadoras cascadas vierten agua de forma casi vertical por las paredes montañosas. Entre ellas destacan las famosas De syv søstrene (Las siete hermanas), Friaren (El pretendiente) y Brudesløret (El velo nupcial), que ocultan los acantilados con ligerísimos velos de vapor de agua que crean una serie interminable cambiantes arcoíris cuya visión te dejará boquiabierto.
Para los amantes de la naturaleza, el fiordo de Geiranger, o Geirangerfjord, tiene mucho que ofrecer. La carretera de montaña Trollstigen, una atracción de visita obligada, se abre camino serpenteando a través de empinadas laderas de montaña, avanzando junto a cascadas, bordeada por piedras, a veces un poco agobiante pero sin duda fascinante. Se trata de una ruta alternativa para llegar a la zona del Geirangerfjord. Los trenes parten a diario desde Oslo (el viaje tiene una duración aproximada de 5 horas y 50 minutos) y desde Trondheim (con una duración aproximada de entre 4 y 5 horas) hasta Åndalsnes, que es la estación de tren más cercana.
En verano puedes tomar el Hurtigruten (El Expreso del Litoral noruego) en dirección norte de Bergen a Geiranger. En invierno, Hurtigruten no entra en el Geirangerfjord pero si pasa hace escala en Ålesund. Entonces puedes coger un autobús de Ålesund a Geiranger.
