En mayo de 2021, el Financial Times catalogó a las islas Lofoten como el séptimo mejor destino de Europa para practicar escalada.

Gracias a sus espectaculares paredes, incontables opciones para el bouldering (escalada en bloque) y el perenne sol de medianoche, las islas Lofoten, y más concretamente, la localidad de Henningsvær, son destinos muy valorados por escaladores de todo el mundo.

La montaña Stetind, situada en Narvik, en el Norte de Noruega, con sus casi 1.400 metros de altitud, es un objetivo muy reclamado entre los aficionados a la escalada. La montaña, en sí misma, ya es digna de contemplar, pero sin duda la panorámica que te brinda desde la cima, te dejará un recuerdo para toda la vida.

La ascensión a la cumbre es empinada y exigente, solo apta para quienes gozan de buena forma física.

En las montañas de Jotunheimen, los fascinantes picos del salvaje macizo Hurrungane son muy tentadores para alpinistas y esquiadores. El variado paisaje alpino que ofrece esta zona es más que gratificante para cualquier escalador.

Uno de los destinos más célebres entre los alpinistas es Store Skagastølstindla tercera cumbre más alta de Noruega.

La ruta comienza en las inmediaciones del hotel Turtagrø, que además es un punto de encuentro central para los alrededores de la zona montañosa de Jotunheimen. Desde ahí puedes seguir caminando en dirección al valle de Skagadalen, antes de iniciar el ascenso hacia la cabaña Bandet (en la imagen), para después continuar el objetivo hasta coronar la cima. Esta ruta circular tiene una duración de en torno a 12-15 horas y es bastante exigente, por lo que es importante que estés en buena forma física.

Los deportes de altura también son muy populares en la localidad de Åndalsnes, donde podrás practicarlos en terrenos montañosos excepcionales como Trollveggen, Romsdalshorn, Bispen y Hornaksla.

Si lo que buscas es un lugar idóneo para disfrutar de la escalada en bloque, debes dirigirte a Mjelva y Skiri.

El “pico” que ves aquí recibe el nombre de Norsk Tindesenter, el centro de alpinismo noruego, donde podrás aprender un montón de cosas sobre actividades empinadas al aire libre a través de exhibiciones interactivas y afrontar tus miedos a las alturas en una de las paredes de escalada de interior más elevadas de Noruega, ¡con 21 metros!

Si te encuentras en el Sur de Noruega, ¡atrévete con un verdadero reto de altura! ¡Dirígete a Lillesand!

Con una altitud de 47 metrosla torre de escalada autónoma en Lillesand es la más elevada del mundo. Aquí podrás hacer el ascenso hasta la cima con o sin la ayuda de un guía, o simplemente utilizar las escaleras para sentirte verdaderamente en el aire. Y mientras caminas por el suelo de cristal de la torre, divisarás unas vistas panorámicas espectaculares del Sur de Noruega.

En invierno, puedes orientar tu pasión por las alturas hacia cascadas congeladas y de hielo en Rjukan, considerado uno de los mejores lugares del Norte de Europa para practicar la escalada en hielo.

Geitgallien (en la imagen), en las islas Lofoten, también es un destino de montaña muy conocido para la escalada en hielo, en cuya práctica se requiere el uso de un piolet y crampones.

Ante todo, ¡sé prudente!, y recuerda que escalar en hielo sin guía solo está indicado para escaladores altamente experimentados.

¿Eres de los que te gusta poner tu adrenalina al límite, pero no tienes ninguna experiencia en escalada? En ese caso, una vía ferrata te ofrece una experiencia vibrante. Una vía ferrata es un itinerario de montaña equipado con diversos materiales, como un cable de acero a lo largo de todo el recorrido, para facilitar la práctica; por lo tanto, también está indicada para familias con niños más mayores.

Continuamente surgen nuevos recorridos. En la actualidad, en Noruega existen unas 20 vías ferratas, incluida la emblemática vía ferrata de Trolltunga (en la imagen). ¿O quizás te atreves con una de las rutas más extremas y duras de Noruega, la “Ragnarok Extreme”, en Loen?
